Hi everyone, Im very excited to be undertaking a new project. The first time round I knew very little about setting, design, comfort, sparkle etc etc. I ended up with a ring that is very bulky and uncomfortable to wear. It is quite masculine and architectual if I have to describe it in words.
Things that especially annoy me is the lack of quality finish on the setting, the beads are messy on the pave, the side triangles dont fit, it`s sharp around the edges, its too big for my fingers, it has too much metal showing and its a horrible dark lead grey color.
But, its been a fun setting, big and chuncky, cocktail style and really in your face `vulgar`.....which was interesting to experience.
Where I am now is knowing that I want lots of femininity in my ring, some gentle upsweeping curves, modern simplicity and it has to be very delicate!!!! Im also toying with either a wedding eternity band or two stacking bands made out of 1 pointers??? I also know that my pave isnt as good as I had asked for and I am passionate about the quality of the pave to be used in the new ring. It has to really make my heart sing and be like a ring of fire!!!!!
My delemer is that I dont know whether to keep the halo and have tiny diamonds on the sides of a very narrow band or just have the princess by itself with no halo !!!! Also should I have one etenity band or two either side. I would like the band(s) to be flush but very delicate and to be obviously seperate from the er.
My photos are around and I have no idea how to link them here!!!! (If anyone is interested).
Also, Im interested in how people chose their pave stones as here in Aust. every shop I go into says that they have the best!!! And they all say that the cut doesnt matter on tiny stones (which according to them it seems that you are lucky they are cut at all seeing they are so tiny!!!!!).
One shop I went to said they have Russian cut parve, and to their credit the stones had heaps of life in their rings. But not cheap, an eternity band made up of 1 pointers was $4000. And they thought that a good design involved 2 of these to stack either side, not one as a wedding band look???
Finally, Im at a stage that this ring has to be done properly or not at all because I couldnt bare to spend money again and not be happy. Id rather save and get the very best setting possible than to compromise at this stage.
