Hello,

I am completely new to diamond buying experience. However, I have been educating myself for a weeks over the internet (thanks to pricescope.com). I have purchased the following diamonds based on HCI tool and other recommendations. I figured I will return the diamonds if I didn't like them. They both turn out to be eye clean and have an amazing sparkle. Honestly speaking, they both look the same to me and I am torn between which one to keep.

1st diamond is 1.31 SI and 2nd diamond is 1.21 VS2. Should I pick clarity over weight or weight over clarity?

Please provide feedback on which one of them would be a better choice from value and investment standpoint! Thank you in advance for your time :)

If it is completely eye-clean (check in all different types of lighting) I would go with size.

If you are looking at them closely and can't tell a difference (have you looked at them at different angles and lighting conditions?) I guess I would go bigger. Unless you think your gf would value the higher clarity.

I don't know about investment. I just checked and BN does trade ups if you get another diamond that's 100% more than your original price. If you went, say, with GOG--you don't have to spend twice the amount to use the trade up and you could do color or clarity upgrades later on. Just a thought.

I have tried holding them at different angles and lights and they are very similar in terms of light performance. I guess I should just consider the bigger size.

I also ordered the following diamond just because I loved the way how it looked in the pictures and the value (I know silly me!). I absolutely loved this princess cut as well. I am not sure which route to go with. This princess cut was about $1300 cheaper but 1.49 carat and is eye clean with a great sparkle. See link below.

So it boils down to Round Ideal-cut, J-color, SI1-clarity, Round, 1.31-carat Diamond for $5850 or Princess Cut 1.49 Carat K Color VS1 for $4550. Which in your opinion will hold its value and turn out to be a better investment over time? Thank you!

I think it has a diamond certificate such as GIA, AGS, and IGI? I would only go with these 3 diamond certificates i just mentioned and nothing else as they are the most reputable diamond certificates known internationally.

The vast majority of the women here choose rounds, followed by near-round cushions. Princess cuts are definitely in the minority. So... unless you're sure your GF prefers a princess cut, stick with the rounds. As for the diamond being an investment... 1) it's not, and 2) the relative price difference between the shapes that you're seeing now is likely the same relative price difference you'll see when you try to "cash in" on the diamond. In other words, try think of the diamond as something you're doing to please your girlfriend and not a commodity.

Oh - I almost forgot the most important part. Pick one of those rounds and move on to the setting!

I agree completely with everything VRBeauty said.

Not to be nit picky but for ideal cut and maximum sparkle

Table should be 54-58 (both your 59)
Depth 60-62.3
Crown angle 34-35 15.3 %
Also are you looking for size over color. As both your stones are either J or K. Alot of PS do like warmer colors but usually stay I and above for an engagement ring

sorry.Keep looking ....Ill take a look and post
