Hello all! I am new to posting on the forum, but I have been using the site and searching the forum for a couple months now and it has been a great source of diamond info!

I have been searching for a loose diamond for an engagement ring and there are currently two stones that I am considering. They are both 1 ct., H color, princess cut stones and are almost exactly the same price (within $100). They also have nearly identical table and depth percentages (within 1%) as well as nearly identical length and width numbers (within 0.05 mm). Both have no culet, no FL, and both are GIA certed.

The only differences between the two are symmetry/polish quality and clarity.

So with all else being essentially identical, which diamond is a better buy, Diamond A or Diamond B?

Diamond A:
EX symmetry grade
EX polish grade
VS2 clarity (there are 3 to 4 small crystals in the center of the stone)

Diamond B
VG symmetry grade
VG polish grade
VVS2 clarity (there is one small feather in the center of one side of the stone)

Thanks very much for any advice!

No way to judge the cut performance. Will need preferably ASET images to do so. Sorry.

Yes, I know that you cannot judge the quality of the cut or the stone based on specs alone, but the real point of my question was, on paper, which is the better deal? (instead of which is the better diamond)

Specifically, if you have two stones which are identical in every way except the clarity and symmetry/polish grades, which one would cost more? The EX-sym, EX-polish, VS2 stone, or the VG-sym, VG-polish, VVS2 stone.

I think the question could easily be answered by a diamond pricing guide (like rapnet), but I have yet to find free diamond pricing guides/comparisons on the internet that compare stones of different polish & symmetry grades. Can anyone tell me where this info would be available?

Thanks again!

Just do a pricescope your diamond on the top and compare the specs of the diamond to what is online here then. Not that difficult to do.

I would think it would be the higher clarity diamond which would cost more.
