Im looking for an engagement Princess Diamond and ring to Total about $6000 or less.
Im a stickler for quality, but I need to stay within my budget for a Platnium ring with prong setting.

Im pretty sure I want to stay with the following:
1.0 Carat, E-F, VVS1 - V2

Im alittle confused on how to read the ''spread'' on the diamond.
If I stick around 68%-71% on depth, is that a good spread for the carat size?

Here is a diamond I thought had potential
Price: $5,632.00
Report: GIA
Shape: Princess
Carat: 1.01
Color: E
Clarity: VVS2
Depth: 71.7
Table: 68
Girdle: STK-VTK
Polish: Very Good
Symmetry: Good
Culet: None
Fluorescence: None
Measurements: 5.53-5.33X3.82
Length/Width: 1.04

Is this a poor ratio for a Princess diamond, 1.04?

What else might you recommend?

Thanks for anyones support.
I have never done this before.

Depth is not a determinant of spread. You can have a stone with depth 72 and it may have smaller spread than a stone with 74% depth. 1.04 ratio is square enough.

I recommend that you have the stone called in by a vendor who will provide Ideal Scope images and "the straight dope" about the stone.

this one looks interesting too - a little deeper but same-ish measurements due to less weight hiding in da girdle. it''s also squarer & cheaper =o) good luck w your search!

WF $4,839.00 F VS1 1.04 ct
Measurements: 5.52-5.48 X 4.00, L/W: 1.01
D: 73, T: 68, G: S TH, P/S: VG

Round is the most popular brilliant cut. I first wanted a princess but once I put it next to a round brilliant cut; it changed my mind.

I think getting what you want for the size will be difficult. You may have to go down a grade or two on color/clarity.

Some ideas:

1.01 G VVS1

1.03 G VS1

1.02 E VS2
