The HCA says it fits within GIA excellent but misses on the AGS Ideal

Reputable seller

In the 12k range

What do you think about the cut and the overall stone?

The crown and pavilion angles look to compensate for eachother. And D SI1 (eye-clean) is one of my fav combos. I personally prefer a taller crown in combo with shallower pavilion to get a more "fiery" stone. Not to say this one won''t be bright, it seems you''ll just get more "white" light return rather than the spectoral colors. -One of those personal preference things.

Personally Idon''t like the crown and pavillion angles. I''d probably drop down to a G SI1 and get an ags0 for my money. What''s the price?

I''m not loving the crown/pavillion angles either. You can easily drop down in color to the F/G range or lower and still have a very white and icey diamond to get a better cut stone, save a few $$, or go bigger.

I agree w/Kcoursolle on this. You can do a search also using this tool https://www.pricescope.com/sift.aspx making cut excellent.

Thanks so much for the input, I had a niggling feeling that the cut just wasn''t where it should be...they are asking 12k...

Here is another one I am looking at:

approx $18.5k

The only issue I have here is that the cut is GIA very good instead of excellent because the girdle % is off. I guess it''s a "painted girdle"

I feel that the price is high for something that does not meet GIA excellent-- is that a fair observation?

I''ve seen the stone in person and loved it, 2k less and it would have come home with me...

The second stone you posted has a great cut! However, I just don''t think it''s necessary to spend 18k on a 1.5 carat stone...If you drop in color or clarity you can either save a ton of money or go larger. A G colored diamond is still totally icey white in a well-cut round...really!! Some here even love their J and K colored stones that are still very white from face up.

Thanks so much for the information, PS is a great reality check for us new people...it''s so easy to get overwhelmed with letters and numbers and lose common sense along the way...

Thanks for the suggestions, they are definitely more in line with our budget!

Thank you all so much we''ve decided to go with the the 1.52 FSI1 H&A from GOG. This is the stone I originally had on hold with GOG and saw in person and really loved. The E VS2 was enticing, but the FSI1 is just as beautiful and much closer to our budget. It''s funny because it''s actually one of the recommendations posted as a response here which I think is what really gave me confidence in my choice ;)

It needs to be shipped to Tacori for setting so we won''t have it for a few weeks...will post pic''s once it''s here!

Again, thank you all for your help!

I posted it above, but mistyped the clarity: 1.52 F/VS1 for 14k--should be SI1 here...my bad
