Now that I have finally decided on a setting, it is on to the next difficult task of choosing a diamond. I have been looking at diamonds at Good Old Gold and at James Allen. The setting will be purchased from Good Old Gold but I am not sure if I am getting a good deal on this diamond from GOG. I have look at several diamonds (cushion or princess cuts) at James Allen and they seem to be a better deal. I would want to get everything ring and diamond from one retailer if possible but if I can get a better diamond from JA for the same price then I would. My diamond budget is 3k. Please give me any suggestions or opinions that you have. I am not quite verse in all diamond information yet but with your help, I can get more knowledge. Here is the link to the diamond that GOG recommended to me.

If you have other diamonds from other retailers including GOG and James Allen that look promising, please post them. I appreciate all your help.

I really love those H&A cushions. James Allen doesn't have those, and you can't compare the price of a generic cushion to one of these.

I think SI2 would be a concern in my opinion, check from the store if SI2 is good

You're looking specifically at a Brellia, so comparing it to others won't be an apples-to-apples comparison. I'm not sure who else supplies H&A cushions, so I wouldn't know where to compare prices to.

Q: Why princesses and cushions? I'm asking because the two are very different.. and then on top of that, you're looking at H&A cushions.. which are also different. It's easier to find comparables if there's a definite search requirement.

The Brellia was recommended to me by Gog. I wasn't particularly looking at that specific cut at all. I am looking at square diamonds, primarily princess cut. What diamonds would you suggest? Looking for a eye clean princess cut diamond for around 3k.

Princess and H&A cushions are very different in looks even though both share the same square outline. If GOG recommended that, I would request a video to view them side by side to see if you like it before proceeding. You may or may not like how it sparkles (both are sparkly but have a different type of sparkle).

I think they suggested the cushion because they are having a big sale on them right now...you may not have been able to get one with your budget before.

I'm not a huge fan of modern cuts, but the Brellia is pretty. Jonathan recently showed a video with the Brellia and a Tacori setting.

Personally, I think GOG has other cushions that are more pleasing to me, like the August Vintage or even their non-branded modern cut. Also, the Princess of Hearts and Octavia Asscher are nice too. Maybe have them select a couple cushions and either princess/asscher and do a video for you.

If you are getting the setting from GOG, I would get the diamond there too. What setting did you pick?

It is a Stuller setting. Here it is on GOG website.

They recommended a Gabriel setting as well but I like the Stuller one a bit better.

I am open to all suggestions for diamonds in the princess cut. Also does GOG offer a pricescope discount?

I've been debating whether or not to purchase a Brellia, myself, so your post is very much appreciated!

My concern about buying a Brellia is that branded diamonds are typically much more expensive than non-branded, right? That being said, me lady loves the shape of a cushion & I want to make sure it's sparkling like mad, hence my interest in the H&A AGS0 cut. I actually think she prefers a non-H&A, but I wonder if that's because she's looking at them online and the massive pictures of the H&A cut don't appeal to her. On a 1.5Ct stone, she may not notice as much. Anyhow, I digress.

I share the concern about SI2 on that stone and would definitely suggest getting a video & Jon's confirmation that it's eye clean.

As for Princess vs. Cushion, like others say it's a pretty different look. The princess cuts are a lot more of a broken-glass look to me, whereas Cushion's are a bit broader in color and sparkle.

It's a tough call, I know. I still haven't decided what to do!
