I''m looking for a nice round diamond on a pretty tight budget. I''d like to get ~1 carat and spend around $4K. I''m totaly hooked on cut and light return, willing to compromise on clarity, and still a little unsure about color.

I found this one that looks promising, and would love some input... I know "k" is lower than most would go, but I wonder if this diamonds other attributes (and price) don''t make it worth having it sent for a hands-on look by our local Denver diamond guru. For what it''s worth, the salesperson claims it really doesn''t have noticable color.

i say it''s definitely worth a look. you will see some color in it, no doubt. whether or not that color will bother you, no one can say. take a look yourself and find out!

Belle''s right. While you may see a bit of warmth to the stone, K''s can be really nice. There are loads of threads here on PS about K colored stones. You might want to read up and see what people''s experiences are with them and you''ll also see some pics that will give you a sense of the warmth, but I find pictures pretty misleading. Still the stone you''re considering could be really nice and you''re right that the ''cut'' makes all the difference.

Good luck...........

Any thoughts on the diamond, other than the color?

I know you said "other than the color," but I just got a K and I LOVE it! I don''t see any color face up (except in one lighting situation when I was sitting in midas today) and just a hint on the side view. Mine is a .93 SI2 (eye clean) and it cost only $2400 for the entire ring. If you are willing to drop just below the 1 carat mark you could bump the color up if you''re worried about it. I absolutely love my K, but you need to go with something that''s "mind clean."
