I have a diamond ring which is a diamond set on top of an anniversary band. I want to remove the prongs and wear it just as a band. Is it possible to channel set diamonds set into the space where the prongs were?
It really depends on how the ring is made, but typically a channel set ring that was made to be an engagement ring is going to have a gap where the head for the center stone sits, and to attempt to remove the head, channel set stones were there are not supposed to be any is going be reinventing the wheel. It MAY be possible to set a single stone down into the gap that will be left, but without seeing how the ring is constructed, we really can't say.
