Hi all,
I have a 1.76 L avc. I was thinking of possibly making a 3 stone ring with some very light yellow avr around .25. My avc is pretty square. I can't do avc in that size due to lowest color available is a g/h.

Strange looking or maybe ok?

Thanks

Susan

Maybe you can ask GOG to line up some diamonds how you want and take a pic to help you visualize?

I would probably try K-L-M colors. I'd be afraid to try G-H, personally. You should definitely look at an AVC that size before deciding. I am not sure I could see the facet pattern that well in an AVC that small.

Hi Susan

I am a Susan too!!! :wavey:

I had an AVC L 1.43 and wore it along with my eternity band which are 7 X 30 points and are all GIA F colour.

Now most people didn't notice the colour difference when glancing at my hand. However, when showing my rings to close friends they were able to see the tint quite clearly. Now it never bothered me at all. The reason I went back to a RB is because I felt it looked better with my existing rings, not because of the lower colour.

If I had to do it all from scratch I wouldn't hesitate to get a low coloured AVC and mix it up with higher colour melee. You just have to find out your comfort zone. I will try and find some pictures to perhaps highlight the shade difference. I would second the excellent suggestion to get the amazing Jonathan to do a line up for you.

Good luck. I am excited to see what you come up with.

:wavey:

Oh, I just realized I meant AVR in the second and third sentences and it was too late to edit! I think the facet pattern can better be seen in smaller AVC's.

Thanks everyone. I like the idea of very light yellow (they also have avr in "warm" colors) so that the contrast is greater with my already warm avc. But will two small rounds look odd with a cushion center? That is my biggest worry.

Thanks

I like small rounds with cushions. Put the sides in 4 prongs and they will look like little cushions anyways. Go for the AVRs. I think the optics of an AVR will work better in a small guy anyways.

But I would go really small, like under .15ct. Chrono has a beautful cushion ring with ruby round sides, looks smashing.

What is the mm for a .15? My avc is 7.18x7.12 (or so). Will these look too small?

I guess it depends on the look you are after. You need to see some proportions. I like very small rounds with cushions. 10 ponters are 3mm and 20 pointers are 4mm, so somewhere between that is what I personally would aim for if you want to mix with a cushions. Let me find a photo for you.

ETA: I mean to choose side stones between 3 and 4mm

I do want this to be only three stones including my avc.

yes, I know. I edited my post above.

Oooops

Sorry Susan. I think I read your original post too quickly and got it completely wrong! Apologies.

I think the little rounds will be more like accent stones rather than looking like a 3 stone ring. And I agree with Dreamer that if you go with rounds next to a cushion, they need to be small.

Here is a cushion sapphire at 2.5 cts. with .22 each sides. So I am thinking the .15's would be about the same proportions to your stone.

I think the smallest warm AVR is around .2 (maybe a smidge bigger) I think. Will that be too big?

I will email GOG about pics of the warms next to an L avc if possible.

Thanks for all the advice.

Those proportions are perfect!
