After a couple of months of working with a local well regarded B&M (and on the verge of throwing up my hands and throwing myself on GOG''s mercy), they were finally able to call in an Asscher that met my requirements, at least on paper. Quick check on the diamond search here says it''s probably this (also available virtually at a couple of other online places).

The problem? After spending a few months here I figure myself a lot better qualified to judge a diamond based on magnified pics, ASET and IdealScope than actually sitting in front of it. My previous live efforts were mostly about deciding what size, color and clarity mattered, rather than evaluating a stone. So, if you were visually examining this, how would you go about it?

All I know is that I would trust Jonathan at Good Old Gold to give me a selection of excellent asschers to choose from. I figure he has a LOT more expertise than I do, so I''d let him pick 2 or 3 and I would choose from the video he''d send me.

If this one doesn''t work out, that''s definitely the route I''ll be taking.
