I would go the press on route. I am in the same boat. I do not think that my nails could take a gel removal if I went with gel. Acryllcs look so thick to me if they are not by a really good nail tech.. I have been watching a ton of nail videos on Youtube and they are really interesting.

The impress nails were really good. They stayed on until I popped them off and it took a while to do it.
