Brand name for the WF stones. They are specially cut for WF. JA stones H&A has a more loose definition so you might not be getting a H&A similar to that as defined by WF. If you are not really after the H&A pattern but just an ideal cut stone, JA is probably a good choice.

Hi Everyone:

Please advise first-time diamond buyer.

.708 ACA Whiteflash - I VS2 - $2513.00

.735 ACA Whiteflash - I VS2 - $2622.00

.72 H&A James Allen - G VS2 - $2748.00

.71 H&A James Allen - I VS2 - $2235.00

I've noticed that the James Allen diamonds are less expensive. The .735 Whiteflash diamond is listed as sold (to me), but I am thinking of changing my mind after looking through it a little more. Please help!

Thanks,

RandyLW21
Hi Randy and welcome!

That is a super diamond you have chosen! Also ACA are well known H&A diamonds so if you want that pedigree that could be a factor to consider. I know it can be tough to decide, do both vendors have the setting you want? That could make a difference as to how you proceed, also just to mention if you think you might want to upgrade the diamond at a later stage, both vendors have upgrade policies but the terms and conditions differ - you might want to read up on each and factor that into your decision if an upgrade could be an option in the future.

I Have an H&A from James Allen and is is drop dead gorgeous. I too considered between James Allen and ACA from Whiteflash but for me the $$ difference was not worth it. James Allen has incredible customer service.

Thanks for your responses.

I am not really after the H&A look, rather just a high quality diamond. Both vendors have the setting that I prefer (4-prong traditional) and the trade-up policy, although a nice feature, not a deciding factor for me. After trying to decide between these diamonds, I could get a .72 G VS2 (H&A) for about a $125.00 more than a .735 I VS2 (ACA). Will the color of G be worth the extra money over the I? Obviously, the sales rep at WF told me that I shouldn't be concerned with the I in color due to the cut of the diamond. I'm thinking of purchasing both, but returning one of them.

Keep the advice coming. :)

IMO, $125 is not worth the hassel of getting both and returning one, which will cost you return shipping anyways, not to mention the cost of your time ... I would hazard that you cannot see a difference in color between those two diamonds (G and I is only 2 color grades) but you might see a difference if you compared the I to an E whereas the G may not look different than and E... do you plan to do this or will your FFI? I only point this out because that is maybe the only situation where the color grade difference will matter at all. I think these are both great diamonds and you can probably flip a coin and be happy

But if you just like the idea of examining two diamonds, which would be very fun, the go for it!

Have you seen a well cut G and I colored diamond?
Is there a hearts on fire dealer or any that carry AGS graded stones nearby?
That would give you a color comparison as well as price.(hof is a ton higher)
