Although the depth isn''t as great in the #2 option, both stones come from whiteflash. Is the cut difference really the reason for the near $4,000 difference in price?

Thanks!

The second stone is to deep.
The difference in price is due to the cut AND to the faint fluorescence.

I couldn't conclusively tell you that the cut is the entire reason the stone is nearly $4000 more in price. Whiteflash could tell you more about the differences in these stones, and a simple phone call to speak with Brian about these stones would be well worth your time.

Having said that, I'll also tell you that within the group of stones that meet ideal proportions.....some are beter than others. Kind of like the grades A+, A, and A-. All are still As, but the A+ is the epitome of top-rank.

The ACA stone is cut not just to ideal proportions, but to SUPERideal proportions. It's like hitting the "sweet spot", which is a very hard thing to achieve given all the variables of rough. Consequently, such diamonds do carry a premium.

Superideal stones in the sweet spot usually have the following: Depth 59-61.8; table 55-56; crown angle 34.3-34.8; pav angle 40.6-40.9....and they all have ideal/ideal or ex/ex polish & symm. As you can see, the stats on the ACA stone fall within these tolerances....it is an A+. Also, it has no fluor, and that is typically more desirable in an E stone. Having fluor may not negatively affect the visual presence of a stone, but it may discount the price on a stone in the D/E/F range.

Until you find out the other info on the second stone (crown/pav angles), it's hard to know if you're comparing apples to apples. Having said that, if the second stone was listed under their expert selection or listed as a round ideal cut stone, I'm sure it's quite lovely. For those folks are aren't "perfection nuts"......it offers a chance to get into a stone like that at a price point that's great.

In actual fact the second diamond is not actually a Whiteflash diamond but one of the general diamonds offered by Whiteflash as well as a couple of other Pricescope vendors. The second diamond is also not a super ideal cut nor does it have Hearts and Arrows. Although I am sure that it is very pretty it is not an A CUT ABOVE like the first one.
