ACA Princess faces up small

Now what do I do? if I switch to a round for instance, would the size be more noticeable? i spent around $13,100 on the stone.

A princess cut will always appear smaller than a round, due to it being more "bottom heavy"... yes, a 2 ct round will appear larger than a 2 ct princess. I wouldn't compare carat weights -- focuse on the size in mm, because that is what your eyes see. :))

The round stone you posted is 0.8 mm larger, so it would most definitely be larger than the princess cut posted.
 
No, the 1.544 round and the 1.815 princess have the same surface area, so they will face up the same size.

But the performance of the round will be stronger and may give an illusion of facing up larger.

Same surface area, but that's not what our eyes see... ;))
 
Thanks for the three links. I am going to swap it out. The size was incredibly disappointing.
Ill just go with the expert selection.

I was surprised that Princess faces up so small.
 
I just chat with WF and its no problem doing the swap. They are going to swap to the I, and i just owe $200 bucks from the princess I bought.

Im having them make a setting, which hasn't shipped yet (monday) so it ends up making my life easier in the end.

Given the size and performance, I think its a good upcharge.

edit: the exchange will be done tomorrow. but the diamond is on hold and Debi said it will be no problem.

Which can be a MAJOR red-flag, and you would need to have the stone inspected in person prior to consideration.

If there isn't a compelling reason to deviate, stick with the vetted Whiteflash stone.
 
Yes I just realize that. Im just going to keep it with WF so I don't need to wait for a refund.
 
Well I paid for the diamond, going to keep the setting the same. I think the h+a melee wuld be nice.

Yes, your thread is exactly why I don't care for princess cuts as much as others (because they appear smaller). You'll get more bang for your buck with your new stone and I'm glad that it worked out for you:)

The swap is done. I really appreciate all the input here.

It's astonishing to me how rounds face up compared to princess. What an upgrade.
