I plan on buying a setting with ACA diamond in the .5-.8 ct range from whiteflash.com in the near future, however, im confused about the ACA inventory.

I''ve been checking the whiteflash website for a month or so and I never see diamonds in the .6-.69ct range and very few in the .8-.99 ct range.

Their current ACA inventory:
.5-.59 (30)
.6-.69 (0)
.7-.79 (14)
.8-.89 (2)
.9-.99 (0)

Is there any explanation to this or is it just coincidence?

It will depend on what they have available which meets the strict ACA standards, just coincidence.

Ring508, you'll find it difficult to find those weights (.6x, .8x, .9x) with most vendors because cutters plan their rough to maximize hitting key size markers (.5, .75, 1.0).

That doesn't mean they don't exist, but they move quickly. One of the gals here had been watching a .66 J stone recently and it was gone almost immediately. Most often, they don't even make it to inventory because people have worked directly through vendors and have snagged them.

If you're working with one of our reps already, have him/her tell Brian what you're in the market for and he can be on the lookout for you.

Allison is right on the money -- most cutters would rather cut a less than ideal stone in order to hit those magic marks where the price jumps significantly. That means leaving weight on the stone, usually where it''s hidden (stone will be too deep and less beautiful as a result). But consumers who know that a 0.9 carat will look just like the 1 full carat, snatch up the stones just under those magic weights as soon as they are available. Of course, some people place premium importance on having 1 carat (0.5 or 1.5, etc), but the smart ones will save money in buying a bit below those magic numbers!

Thanks so much. I will try and work it out through a rep. I am close to buying so I will contact someone shortly, as I hope to propose to my g/f next month. I just have to figure out financing.

Hi Ring508, I hear what you are saying, I think I got the only .61 that they had in their inventory for ACA''s...keep checking it is well worth it!

I hear ya Ring5! I''ve been stalking WF''s website for a .80-.99 range ACA princess to pop up, but nothing so far. I''m pretty resolved that when I''m ready to purchase, I''ll be getting a .70-.79 range princess (which is fine, was just hoping to go bigger!). But I''ll be crusing their site daily (er, hourly

) just in case!
