I have been an avid reader of the forum for years, this is my first time posting. Currently I am in the market for a 5 stone ring comprised of two pink sapphires and 3 diamonds, all stones measuring 4mm in diameter. I requested estimates from Whiteflash and BGD.

BGD quoted me a price that is almost $1000 more than what Whiteflash offers. From what I understand, the difference in cost is due to BGD certifying the quality of the stones. Of course that provides a greater sense of security.

Whiteflash seems to have a very strong reputation. Am I being too paranoid to think that ACA melee are not exactly what they are advertised as (F/G VS)? Also, BGD tells me the sapphires are AAA; Whiteflash says they are either AA or AAA.

In light of this, I wonder what members of this forum think. Budget is a concern for us and $1000 is quite a large price difference. This is going to an engagement/wedding band.

I look forward to your opinions!

I would have no concerns about the ACA diamonds.

Agreed. And as long as you let WF know you want final approval of the pink sapphires *before* they are set, if it were me, I'd go with WF - $1K is significant, and WF is an excellent, reputable vendor with fantastic customer service - I can't imagine you won't be over the moon with the finished band.

I don't think you can go wrong w/ either choice. The setting should also play a factor in your choice.

Thank you for the responses!
