All,

I''m about to purchase this:

What do you guys think? Is the diamond going to look good in this setting? I can''t tell what size diamond they are showing in the pic of the setting - I want it to be the same size as the pic. :)

Oh no. No one likes the ring I picked out.

Seriously though, what do you guys think? Honest opinions please.

We can''t tell much about the diamond without an actual pic of it, and an ASET image if available. Ask DS if they can take some pics and email them to you, then you can post them here.

Hi smedley,

I just now saw this. It is not my style personally, but if you/your girl (I don't know which you are) like it, that's all that matters!

You need to as DS what size is represented in the photo, we would just be guessing.

Quite honestly, it''s not my favorite setting. It doesn''t look delicate. Do you know what your gf would like? If this is what she wants, then there''s your answer. I think a princess cut diamond would work well with that setting.

Thanks for weighing in. When you say "not delicate" can you please clarify? Do you think it''s too chunky, or are the side diamonds too much? (There is one that''s a similar style without the side diamonds, that''s why I ask. I think the side diamonds add a little something.)

I do.

Here''s an example of something more delicate.

Please take this with a grain of salt.

If you are the girl, and love it, get it. You will be wearing it forever and you are the one who needs to be happy. I am awaiting a new setting I love but since a WB can''t really be worn with it, most people would not choose it. This doesn''t bother me in the least because I am IN LOVE with the setting.

If you are the guy, I personally doen''t know any girls who would choose this setting. It''s too masculine, IMHO, particularly for if your girl likes a princess cut. Not a particularly romantic setting. It''s kind of boxy, and doesn''t seem to showcase the stone as much as other settings might. The extra diamonds aren''t the issue for me. Like I said, just IMO.

Smedley12-

After reading your other thread I''m going to guess you''re the guy.

Have you gone shopping with your SO did she show interest in rings like this? If so the I think it''s a wonderful choice. Yes, I like the diamonds down the shank I think they are a nice touch.

I think others are a little worried b/c girls who pick that style are not the majority. If you''re trying to surprise her totally what kind of jewelry does she wear now? Sneak a peak in her jewelry box if it''s filled with delicate rings, pearls and smaller pieces the something more delicate may suit her better. If she owns a lot of larger chunky jewelry then you are right this may be more her style.

I''m pretty classic, feminine, and delicate and I like this one. Same square lines but a little more delicate. IMHO. http://www.dimendscaasi.com/build/step1.asp?prodID=1A2A1

In my opinion too much of the stone is covered by the metal. A princess is a delicate looking stone but this setting looks like it''s trying to be industrial strength.

As a guy, I second the vote for the one Ellen linked, and personally hate, er strongly dislilke the first one...

Smedley-The diamond seems to be lovely, but the setting is not so much. What drew you to it? If you tell us why you are thinking about this one, we can help you find something close to what your or your GF tastes are.

I personally think it has too much metal. I like the type of look where the diamonds take precedence instead of the metal on the setting, thus loving the pave or micro pave styles. I also think that if you have a princess center then the stones on the setting would look better if they were princess, just my opinion though.

Hope this helps!

To be honest I think you can find a setting which will complement and showcase your chosen diamond much better than this one.

I think the diamond is slightly overwhelmed by the large amount of metal around it, in this particular setting, and doesn''t really allow the diamond to stand out as it should.

Sidestones are lovely, and I think they would be a lovely addition to your e-ring.

Perhaps something like this setting might be worth considering?

I think this is beautiful and elegant ring, with a timeless, classic appeal.
