I don''t know much about marquise, but I do believe this one is lovely! Charlie at GOG says that it has serious sparkle and barely there bowtie, which is a good thing. And a nice spread. The shape looks lovely!

Opinions? I mean, I''m pretty darn sure I''m set, but I always like to see what you guys think!
:-)

Thanks in advance!

That is a huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge table!

The stone looks very nice though, from all the pics on GOG.

ETA: You wrote the table as 87.87%....the GIA report says 56%. Which isn't huge.

I know absolutely nothing about marquise cuts, but would be very confident with GOG''s opinion on anything.

Haha, yeah I think that was a typo, I copied it from them though, LOL!
Too funny!
It''s 56%. Yeah 87 would be a BIT much, LOL!!!!

So it looks good then? :D

Arg, double post. There fixed it:D

I think so. Most stats in 1A range, depth is 2B. Overall really nice.

The good symmetry would prevent me from getting it. That would make me nuts. If that is not an issue for you, the rest looks pretty good. GOG does have a great return policy.

Thanks guys for replying!
Jazmine, I was the same way with the good/good. What is the highest level for a marquise? Does it go up to excellent?
Symmetry DOES drive me mad, that''s the thing. GOG said it''s not a big deal with this stone....hopefully it''s not cause I''d notice it and like you, it would make me nutty! Haha!

Have you considered going down in clarity and color a little and going up in cut to get a stone with at least Very Good polish and symmetry. VS clarity with F-H color are very beautiful stones. I have an eye-clean SI1 H, and I love it. By going down in these you could get a better cut and larger size. That reports is kinda old, where has this stone been for the last 6 years.

Hiya!

Ohhh, I have a theme going, have a soft spot for D/IFs, but only with blue fluoro (med-strong). I know, I''m strange. My E-ring has the same stats but with STRONG blue flouro, and I''ve had a lot of the same comments. It''s just me I guess, I''m weird!

I didn''t even see the 6 year thing. Maybe no one wants a marquise with D/IF?! I don''t know?! I''ll ask about it!

Thanks for bringing it up!
:-D

The symm isn''t perfect, you can see it on the IS. But how much of that you''ll really detect in normal viewing conditions, I don''t know.

Starspun, that makes sense about the D/IF then. Good luck with the stone hunting. Looking for a new stone can drive you crazy, but it''s worth it when you find the one you want! I can''t wait to see pictures of your new ring when you are finished!

Thanks so much!
Yeah, I''m going pretty nuts now trying to get a set of stuff together for the wedding. A lot of people think I am nuts for wanting D/IF, and I agree with them. It''s pretty silly and more money than neccessary....but hey. And now I have a theme going so it''s even worse! LOL! Then there''s the fluoro issue which I don''t even get into with people anymore, hehe!

I''ll for sure post some pics up soon, thank you for your advice!

Great! I''ll be watching your posts to look for your pics!

Is this stone for you? What are you planning to do with it? I''d say that is a pretty good looking stone. And score another beautiful D/IF. I know a lot of PS''ers go for lower color/clarity to get a bigger stone, but it''s all about what one wants, right? All I can say is if I found a D/IF, and I could afford it....and personally I like the D-F range. There is something about knowing that the stone is colorless that appeals to me.

Hiya!

Yup, the diamond is for me:-)
This is the plan: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/is-this-a-good-idea-for-a-wedding-band-marquise-set-east-west-with-celtic-engraving.67369/
There is a link to Machicks ring in my ramble there, something similar to hers, but with celtic and my own style. I have always been a HUGE fan of her ring: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/my-new-ring-custom-from-greenlake-jewelry-works.45126/

I''m like you, just love the crisp look of a D-F. I guess also knowing it''s flawless draws me to it. Then I''m not ''looking'' for anything I guess. I don''t know. HAHA. I''m kinda weird. I just love the combo though....! Not a fan of larger stones anyway (on me!), so what the heck, right?

Oh, I think that is going to look great. The east/west setting is really different. And the Celtic designs will be unique and personal. YaY! Can''t wait to see how it turns out.

Whoa, If you find a Marquise that you dig I say buy it FAST. I looked for several months for my Marquise insisting that the cut be all 1a. I got it and was lucky enough to get very good symmetry and polish which I have actually never seen before in a marquise.

It was also high color and clarity like yours-However, I would have settled for less color and clarity wise but I knew it would not come long in the cut and "shape" I liked. So I bought.

I think yours looks more symmetrical than mine. is the perfect size and you are getting a good price too.

Thanks Gemoholic. I agree....I''m already in love with the stone anyway:D
Do you have any pics of your sparkly?
:-)

Sadly no I can't take pics very good. There are pics of the stone alone online here with the specs. I was under a diff name then. I set it in a Mark Morrell sunburst. I think it is stunning. But of course as I looked at a million stones for it I am biased!

Maybe he took pics and I could ask him. Spent 5600 appraised at 9-10 K retail by roc doc- sans Morrell setting.

Regret that it is too big for my lifestyle.

Just want to know if you got the marquise yet.
