Okay! I've done quite a bit of back and forth and am about to pull the trigger on this diamond.

I was a bit concerned with the light in the center of the idealscope image but was told by someone that it was a photography issue rather than light leakage issue

For $25K, let me know how this diamond fares. I believe it fits the numerical values of a super ideal cut

I am going to go on a Victor kick tonight. I saw a 2.012 G, VS2 at victor Canera yesterday and almost bought it. It is 27,000- I think. But, super beautiful

If it were around 22~23k, yes. But for 25k, I would go for the WF diamond @diamondseeker2006 posted. And I do not recommend WF diamonds (or other siper ideals from BG, VC, CBI) too often.

The light return is a tad weak and it is visible in the video as well.

I personally would also buy the WF stone for the small difference in price. I agree that if this one was a couple thousand less, it would make more sense.

Thanks for the feedback. What makes the WF stone a more ideal stone than the one I posted?

Compare the IS images and the intensity of red. The difference os clear. In addition, WF lets you upgrade your ACA to any stone in their catalogue as long as it costs a dollar more. But with JA, the new stone needs to be 2x price of the original. Not an issue if your original stone is 5k. But at 25k ish, that is very restrictive.

The reason the light return is a little off in the center of that stone is that the angles aren't as complimentary as they could be. A 34.9 crown angle would work better with a 40.6 pavilion angle, for example. A 34.3 crown angle would work better with a 40.9 crown angle. Superideal vendors like WF select stones with optimal angles that result in the best light return. The stone you are looking at is a nice one and better than most diamonds you'll ever see. However, I agree with flyingpig that with the small difference in price, why not get the best as well as the bonus of a good upgrade policy just in case you ever wanted higher color or a larger stone, etc. We may think we will never want to upgrade when we buy a diamond, but 10 or 20 years later one might rethink that!
