Well, the ring absolutely blew my lady's mind. It turns out that she DID want a diamond, did not care about the ring's history, LOVED the semi-bezel setting, and my proposal idea of tying it around our little black pug's neck on xmas was also a big hit. The whole thing just shines and flashes brightly in almost any light. We've been on cloud nine ever since engagement day.

Today, we got the ring taken down a half size and it fits her perfectly now. We also got the appraisal back from another jeweler.

There are lots of stats on the paper-work. But the bottom line is the value was estimated at $4,000.00. You'll recall that I paid $1,000. He gave it a VS2 and a F-G. It was also called .50c, with 62.8% depth and 63% table. The total ring weighed in at 6.7 grams.

Now, I know the value may be a bit inflated. And I've held it up to 1/2 carrot diamonds and it does look a bit smaller. But, over all, I'm feeling really good about this ring and my lady is totally impressed with me. In fact, she just told me that she's going to buy my wedding band! So I better start shopping. Which brings me to another question. The same jewelry shop had a 10 gram 5.8mm Verragio platinum band for $400. It fits me perfectly. I haven't shopped around for the perfect style..., but this one sure looks like a bargain. Any pointers on where I should start my wedding band search?

Jason, that''s wonderful news. If your fiance loves the ring and you love the ring, that''s a perfect result. I wish you both the very best for 2006 and your future together.

Thats awesome!! So glad it turned out ok!!
