About ring-polishing for pre-owned ring

Hi everyone,
sorry to bother you guys,
I just wondering if anyone had bought pre-owned diamond ring before. I'm interested in a diamond ring and it have some scratch on the platinum part. is there anyway to polish the ring to perfect or mint condition? how much is that? (the ring is from Cartier or Harrywinston and etc...)

My local jeweler would clean and polish it for free.

Most rings can be polished to perfection, unless the ring is old enough to be in the "vintage" category. A couple of things to look for - has the shank worn to the point that it has gotten thinner? Are there scratches and dings in spots that might be hard to polish - which might mean that the stone has to be removed to make the ring "look like new"? Are the prongs in good shape?

I bought a used ring that came with some deep scratches on the shank - deep enough that I could have used the ring as an emery board - albeit a very narrow one. It was sent out for polishing and came back looking good as new!

My local jeweller polished my heirloom ring (full of scratch marks) for free. Most will do so for a minimal fee.
