HEY everyone! I''m just curious about one thing. Its about chameleon diamond.
I bought my first chameleon diamond recently and I just fell in love with it, and started researching on this topic.
It is written here and there that the first documented report on a chameleon diamond was in 1943(GIA).
However, that is the only information I was able to find on this "original" chameleon diamond of 1943. Some say it is lost or maybe hidden?
Does anybody know the answer to its whereabouts? and what would be the value of this first chameleon diamond?

Hi diamondplease-

Congratulations on owning your first Chameleon diamond. I hope you enjoy it''s beauty and unique various hues for a very long time. 1943 may be the first time that the GIA had formally noted or given a report on on a Chameleon diamond, but they have been noted in various texts for well over a century. I don''t think we could call the one graded in 1943 the first Chameleon diamond. I would be curious to know what happened to it though, but that will probably never happen...o)

I know that I read an excerpt from Max Bauer''s Edelsteinkunde (Precious Stones), late 1800''s, translated to english of course, about a yellow coloured diamond that if left in darkness retained a yellow colour, and then when exposed to the direct rays of the sun, or diffuse daylight changed to it''s original Olive colour. That is not the direct quote, but it was something like that. Hope that helps. Enjoy your new diamond..
