A friend of mine says the people next door moved away and left their cat behind. On purpose. The cat is re-homed now, but I just couldn't believe that anyone could do that. She's a really nice cat, too - a fine-looking cat (I saw photos) with an affectionate nature, I'm told.
I just don't get it. OK, so you don't want your cat anymore. Maybe it got expensive or maybe someone developed allergies. Whatever. But take it to the vet or get it re-homed in good time before you leave! Don't just abandon it! They really couldn't be bothered to even drop it off at an animal shelter? Apparently that was too much trouble for them! And people like that, does the cat never slip into their head that it is cold and confused and hungry, and shut out of the house, and exposed to predators? They really drive away and just leave it and never think about it?
I hope there's a special place in hell for people like that. I kind of wish I knew who they were so I could take out an ad in their local paper telling everyone what they did. Not that I would really do that, but it sure is a fun thought.
