I saw an episode of I Didn''t Know I Was Pregnant where this happened. Seriously, I don''t get it - how can you mistake something like this? And...grooooossssss!

These stories always amaze me!

I''m at work, so I have not be able to hear the interview. But I just can not believe how someone will not realized that is pregnant. I think she was in denial.

I can''t believe she cleaned herself & the baby up like nothing happened & picked up her other son, lol. Is the older son her biological child.. if he is I just cant see how she wouldn''t know she was pregnant being that she has been there done that.

I felt stupid for not realizing I was pregnant 2 months into it.

You know, before I saw that show about women who didn''t know they were pregnant, I thought the same thing. Until I actually saw pictures of some of these women at 6 and 7 months. FREEEEEAKY. In bikinis, I kid you not. No tummy to speak of, no nausea, no weight gain, nothin''. Some of the women didn''t have periods to MISS in the first place. One gal had been declared infertile, was large to begin with, hadn''t had a period in decades, and was in her late 40''s. you can imagine how surprised SHE was.

I became a believer after about 2 hours of that show. The vast vast majority of women could hardly miss it, but there are those rare women who don''t have a single sign until labor. They really are not idiots in denial.

Same. That show kind of freaked me out, because I really didn''t think that was possible, but I''m convinced now.

ksinger, i saw that same ''i didn''t know'' about the gal who had PCOS since she was 16, was overweight and had a host of body problems already. plus she''d been told at 16 she couldn''t have kids! she delivered her kid in the TOILET thinking she was going #2. crazy!!!

but yeah sometimes you read these stories and think WTF. plus as someone who has had a kid already wouldn''t you know???? i surely can''t forget THOSE PAINS no matter how hard i try.

but yeah birthing in the laundry room then going to pick up your kid from school, weird.

Not even fetal movements?

Nope. I''m telling you, this is really not fiction. Even the doctors interviewed said it was not a given that a woman would have signs of pregnancy. You''re already big, you gain weight. You''re small, and you don''t gain wait. You have no cravings. All the things we think of as signs of pregnancy could be not there or interpreted as signs of something else. Seriously, when I saw that young gal at 6 month in the bikini, I was like dayum! She looked pretty darn decent. No one would have guessed.

It''s rare but it happens. Of course that gal in the article sounds a bit odd....

I can understand the lack of weight gain and cravings and morning sickness.
But when the baby inside is moving, you sort of wonders what gives?
I guess one could say that it''s bad indigestion or something.
You got me curious now and I need to go and search for this show.

This reminds me of that quote from Knocked Up.

"You don''t remember your last period? Uh oh. Are you the lady who doesn''t know she''s pregnant until she sits on the toilet and a kid pops out?"

lili if i didnt know i was preggo i dont know that i would have really said ''oh that''s a kick''...some of us were just saying in the newborn thread that sometimes we have gas bubbles that feel like the baby''s movements. but if you have never been preggo and/or dont know to look for that...you seriously might not know!

These stories always floor me, because I can''t imagine not knowing.. But she said she was having her periods monthly, or what she thought was her period.. But would the huge boobs be a sign?? Oh I have no clue.

Glad the baby is ok, no prenatal care and all....

I find it so very difficult to believe that women honestly do not know that they`re 8 or 9 months pregnant.. I`ve never been pregnant... but seriously! can you really not notice..

Why are there always people with no teeth in these weird stories?

I can see how one may be uncertain about those earlier fetal movements, but at some point the movements are so strong that your belly morphs and bulges like something is trying to get out. I guess maybe some babies are not that active?

Clearly in denial. What did she think the kicking was? An alien?

Lili, it could be a combination of a less active baby, a tilted uterus and the placenta being located at the front of the uterus.

I had a roomate in college who had twins our Senior year and didn''t know she was pregnant. She was a bigger girl who carried all of her weight in her stomach and she had a multitude of health and reproductive issues, PCOS being one of them. I still to this day question how she couldn''t know she was pregnant given that she had TWO babies in there, but I don''t remember her looking or acting any different during her pregnancy than normal and she was not they type who would callously drink/smoke etc if she knew she was expecting.

Now that I''m pregnant I can almost see how it could be a hard thing to pick up on. My m/s hasn''t been any worse than my normal stomach problems and other than putting on weight, being tired and super moody (all common things for a college-aged girl) I wouldn''t know I was pregnant.

I guess if the baby wasn''t very active... my daughter was unmistakeably present! She somersaulted in my belly, literally. Her butt would stick out when I was trying to sleep, she would jam her feet up into my ribcage, she would get hiccups all the time too!

But I also experienced every symptom in the book, including missing my period which is when I took a home test. But if a woman kept getting her period and didn''t feel much in terms of movement, I could definitely see why she would just never know. Craziness!

I guess I do have to sometimes wonder if they did know but were just afraid to tell anyone for some reason

I didn''t read the article, but my DH and I saw it on the news this morning and were talking about. While I have seen the "I Didn''t Know I Was Pregnant" show, and believe that it could happen, I don''t know if I believe the whole home birth, pick up my son, and then casually make my way over to the hospital. Unless you are stupid or just plan high, why in your right mind would you not call help, call your husband, and ambulence, etc. You had no idea you were having a baby and then you aren''t worried about it''s health enough to call a medical professional until hours later?

Now, I haven''t had a child, but how many women on here who have had a child feel like it would have been a great idea to hop in a car within an hour or two of birth and possible endanger your new baby and your other child you pick up, not to mention everyone else on the road. I think there is something screwy with this story...

lol I thought the same thing.

Symptoms.....no headache, MS, food adversion or cravings, smell sensitivity, sore breasts, leg cramps, ligament pain, no weight gain, no movement, absolutely zero symptoms?

strangely enough - I had a dream last night where I had twins and didn`t know I was pregnant! this is what I get for reading Pricescope before bed

lol lili well my coworker who was preggo same time i was said her kid hardly EVER moved. whereas i had a gymnast in my belly. so i guess it depends on the kid! and like HH said, placenta, uterus etc. and if i didn''t think i was preggo with my gymnast in my belly i would think i had some rip-roarin'' kind of gas!!

swin...lol we thought the same thing. horrible stereotype but add in the locale and somehow it all made a bit more sense.
