I know this talky isn''t as rocky as most posts on this forum, but my man has expressed and interest in a ring with a stone.

I guess he should have as much input on his as I do on mine. I like these for him:

Than I got to wondering about black gold setting for me, too. I know that dark metal would be very nontraditional, especially for a woman. I haven''t found black gold settings suitable for a me ... any leads?

No info on black gold, but I can tell you to check out Bruce Boone''s line of titanium rings if your FI likes ti. He''ll do pretty much anything for you, even if it''s not on the website. He''s fantastic, quick, and his prices are great. We got my FI''s ring from him.

I''m not sure about black gold. Never heard of it. I wonder if these would have similar issue as Rhodium plated WG rings? How do they make it black? Have you considered ''black'' tungsten? I have a tungsten wedding band and I like the substantial feeling of tungsten and the incredible hardness that resists scratches. We didn''t buy from this vendor, but they offer ''Black Ice'' finish, will make a custom ring, and have a good reputation. I understand they look much darker in person than these images.

Bruce Boone, the link that neatfreak posted, has a line of Black Zirconium (aka Black Gold) rings for stones, it''s under their main menu. From what i understand, its not even gold but just zirconium, a hard and inert metal like tungsten or something. Good luck!

Sometime soon I may be able to take a picture of my wedding ring. I don''t see any like it on here, but it was an obvious choice at the time 18 years ago, and a friend had one not unlike it.

Imbedding onyx in a gold band gives quite a nice look. Onyx is naturally black, and provides great contrast.

Mind...today...just a personal thing...I would instead opt for a simpler gold band. But I like mine. No sense having gold do black, when onyx can, I''d say.

Just a thought.

Hi Ninama,

My FI wanted a Titanium ring, but when we went to the jewelers to look at them, he recommended going with a Tungsten ring as Titanium is durable, but shows scratches horribly. I researched what my FI liked at the jewelry store, then researched it online, and of course found the same Tungsten and Platinum band on ebay (for those of you who have read my other posts, it is becoming more apparent I have an ebay addiction!) for $46!!! If I had just committed to the ring I could have used the BIN option for less than $20, but I kept second-guessing myself. I took it to the jewelers and he thought I had bought it from their store, which would have cost me over $1K.

Also, went to visit a friend who just got married and she was complaining about her husband''s band. Turns out he also wanted Titanium and has only had the ring since April, and it is scratched like crazy, so she is getting him the same ring in Tungsten on ebay for about $40.

It is definitely a personal choice, but I really couldn''t tell much difference in the look of Titanium and Tungsten, so I decided to go with the one that would hold up the best...my FI is always using his hands and and I can imagine he will do his best to beat the crap outta his wedding band when the time comes! There are also a ton of options out there for bands with diamonds in them that look fantastic, both in person and online. I couldn''t be more pleased with the Tungsten and Platinum band.

Hope that helps...let us know what you end up with!

You can find black Titanium or even a black Tungsten. I have a titanium band and while I love the weight it gets scratched very easily. Mine is a polished band and that is easier to see all the hairline scratches. I know you can polish them out but it was scratched only a after a few days of wearing it. If you plan to go with a titanium I would suggest a brushed finish. Personally, I am going to switch mine out with a Tungsten band which never needs polishing and I don''t have to worry about being careful with it.

Good luck
