A question totally unrelated to, but sort of related to diamonds.

Sorry if this is in the wrong forum...

So I''ve also made arrangements to visit GoG on my way to ERD on thursday, which just means I''ll have to leave work earlier and drive to long island first. I''m trying to figure out what time I should stop by GoG, in order to leave myself enough time to look comfortably at any inventory they can show me, and get to manhattan to see ERD at 5:00, which of course is rush hour. I don''t want to be late! Even though I''m a tri-stater, I haven''t spent much time driving in rush hour in the city- how long would it take me to get to ERD from GoG, and how much time do you think I''d spend looking?

How about taking the train? It''s an hour train ride from GOG to ERD.

From Manhattan to GOG, it took us about 1 hour 20 minutes on a Saturday morning. We hit a little traffic.

On a weekday. wow.. you''re probably gonna wind up on the LIE and BQE which means terrible traffic even doing the reverse commute. Depending on how much time you want to spend at ERD, and hour at the least, I''d say leave GOG about 2. Remember, once you''re in the city you''re gonna hit bad traffic in midtown. Still need to park (garage i''m assuming cause you''ll never find a spot on the street) then walk to ERD.

Not sure where you''re coming from but that''s not a trip i''d do at one time on a weekday.

I would take the train, but I was considering driving because of my time constraints. I can only really do this on thursdays unfortunately, and there are only so many excuses I can make to my future-fiancee as to why I can''t answer my phone at work. :D Unfortunately, time and convenience are not on my side here.

not sure on the traffic but plan on ~2 hours time spent at GOG if you want the full course.

I'm from NY too but I never drive in the city. Anyway when I left GOG it took me an hour to get to midtown. I left at 5:15 I think. My original plan was to actually drive back up to Westchester, dump the car, and take the train back down into the city but I had to be in the city by 7, so I had to drive and just park in a garage.

Unless you did that drive on a weekend or a holiday, that''s damn near impossible.

Well for all of you that think the idea was idiotic.... you''re right. I''ve decided to take that day off work and just do it during the daytime.
