hi everyone! I am new to diamonds and would love to get everyone's opinion on this ring. Given the statistics below, what do you think is a resonable price for it?

type: prong set wedding band
diamond sizes: 1ct / 11 stones
diamond quality: color H, VS2
metal type: 18k white gold

thanks!

Impossible to say.
Too much information is missing.

First, which gem lab graded it H VS2?
If it is AGS or GIA then it really is H VS2.
If any number of other labs (such as EGL) graded it H VS2, then it may be J I2 or even worse since some other labs have 'soft' standards, IOW lie.

Worse, if NO lab graded it and the seller is calling it H VS2 run away fast.

Is it new or used?
Is it being sold by a jeweler?
Is that jeweler high end like Tiffany, or Cartier located on 5th Ave in Manhattan?
Or is it a no-name jeweler in a tiny mid-western town?
Is it on eBay, Craigslist, loupetroope or diamondbistro?
Is it from a pawn shop, garage sale, swap meet, antique store?

Are you selling it or buying it or trading it in or consigning it with a retail vendor?

Jewery/diamonds are not commodities like gold with a universally agreed-to price.

You wrote, "diamond sizes: 1ct / 11 stones"
Does that mean there is a 1-ct center diamond surrounded by 11 stones?
Or does that mean the total carat weight of 11 stones is 1 ct?

How good is the cut?
Is it shallow and leaky, deep and fisheyed? or is is cut to proportions that result in top light performance?

Hi Kenny! thank you so much for your reply! these are certainly very helpful and useful questions.

"Jewery/diamonds are not commodities like gold with a universally agreed-to price." <<--well said, that's exactly why I wonder how does diamond pricing work? what's being considered a "resonable" price.

I am referring to a new wedding band with 11 stones adding up to 1ct from a reputable jeweler, not brand name though. I don't think they are GIA certified diamonds, thus I definitely see your concerns r/t how trustworthy the stats are according to the jeweler.

I would love to get a wedding band with GIA certified stones, however, it seems like most of vendors on the market only have GIA certified center stones with specific detailed stats, not so much for smaller melees. Do you know where I can find wedding bands with GIA melees? Thank you again for all your help!

Hi luvdajules, thank you for your recommendations! Just curious, are ACA stones a WF in-house specialty? I did a little search and all the results are related to WF?

ACA is a brand owned by Whiteflash.

I have a round 0.82 ct ACA.
They are a superb cut and sparkle like mad.
If you are going to get diamonds too small for lab reports getting them from a vendor trusted to provide superior cut is the only way to go IMO.
There is virtually no chance of finding small diamonds cut this well from any regular vendor.

Do searches here.
Whiteflash is a very very fine vendor.

Bear in mind that with this sort of thing labor is often the most expensive single component. This can vary a LOT depending on the details of the job and who is doing it.
