Hello everyone. What a great resource this is. With our 25th anniversary approaching DH has finally agreed to my little dream stone. It has to be a stone that the GIA graded as natural color. We have a modest budget so can't get much carat size. I was looking at these sites and found a few candidates. I did a search here and have read many posts but still need some help.

fancydiamonds.net has a good selection and prices are listed.
diamondsbylauren.com has very little pink inventory.
amgad.com does not list prices unless you email them.

Unfortunately Ice Store does not allow you to browse an inventory with listed prices either.

Are these vendors okay and which ones have I overlooked, and why are there so many radiant and pear shaped pinks? Do you think pink diamonds will go up in value in the future more than other colors? Someone said they are running out but I have a hard time believing everything salesmen say.

Edit, oh is this forum only for white diamonds?

Is there a colored diamond one? I looked at the colored gem forum but there is nothing about diamonds there.

Colored gems does diamonds too. They may have more ideas there.

If you register as a user on Amgad, you can view the prices on the website. Hope this helps!

I''m sure you know that natural, quality pinks are rare so you won''t find them as easily as other diamonds. Also, it goes without saying, if it is a true pink you are looking for, you''ll need to be prepared to spend quite a bit per carat. If you are serious about a purchase, just grab the bull by the horns and make a few phone calls. There are lovely stones out there, you just need to dig a little to find them.

I''m sure that David at DiamondsbyLauren will be happy to help you find a quality natural pink diamond. He deals with natural colored diamonds, prefers GIA graded, and specializes in colored diamonds. Give him a call. If he does not have what you are looking for in inventory, if it is out there, he can secure it for you.

Ditto regarding registering on Amgad.

Regarding your question about shapes, it depends upon the rough, and, some cutting styles "hold" natural color better than others (radiant over RB). For example, given two relatively similar stones in terms of quality, ct weight and clarity, a fancy pink RB would most likely cost more than a fancy pink radiant because it is far more rare to find an RB with fancy pink color than a radiant.

Most pinks on the market these days have been sourced from the Argyle mine in Western Australia, however there are other sources, including Angola, South Africa, Tanzania and China as well as others. Argyle has its own website... I''m not too sure how accurate or up to the minute it is, but, it may offer some clues as to the future of one large pink source...

As far as investment potential, certainly, pinks are less plentiful than common colorless and near-colorless diamonds. Like anything, future price will be determined by rarity, whether it is rarity determined by available natural sources, market availability, and/or customer demand. Then, the color, shape, make, and all the other diamond grading characteristics come into play as well. If current known sources for pinks dwindle, mines cease to operate, then, certainly, overall, the value of pink stones will rise. However, just as the Argyle mine was discovered in the 70''s, another big source could appear down the road and, again, change the face of the pink diamond market. One never knows for sure...

If you are concerned about a return on investment, remember there is no guarantee with gems (or anything else for that matter!) and you''ll probably have to think long-term. Like any other gem, color comes first with fancy colored diamonds, and the purest, most intense are the most highly prized. And the bigger the more rare, the better. Purchase the best cut, cleanest stone you can find. Above all else, be sure you LOVE your choice, no matter what it''s worth now or later. For a personal piece, there really is no right or wrong, it is all about how your diamond makes YOU feel.

Sounds like an exciting project... I''m jealous! I''d love to see what you find. Enjoy the hunt for your perfect pink.

Ditto, I would go ahead and call around. Maybe try calling Wink also.

You can try here or here!

Good Luck trying!

Also, is there any chance you''d be interested in a champagne pink? A pink diamond with a secondary color, or vice versa, would certainly make it much more for affordable for your budget, and probably let you go up in size as well.
