Hello,

This is my first post here. I''ve spent the last week or so reading many posts and the community seems amazinly helpful. As I''m a newbie here and to the world of diamonds....i would really appreciate your thoughts on the diamond posted below. I''ve put the stats and a photo...what do you think of the color? and does it look like a good stone when taking the photo and stats in mind?

thanks in advance.

Hi opoh and welcome,

Does this diamond have a lab report firstly?

Hi, it does - it''s EGL- Israel. With that in mind...i really wanted to get the opinion of other''s first impression of the stone..since I''ve come to realise that this particular lab report is sometimes not at accurate as one would like.

Agreed. The pattern doesn''t look great, it might have some significant light leakage, or it might not! Can your vendor provide an ASET image?

Hi neatfreak -, I''m not sure about the ASET - i can ask if they have one to send. This particular stone was listed on Union Diamond with a *Select Ideal cut - I''ve attached another photo they had sent me as well. They did send me quite a few (some side shots as well..but, i''m no expert - so, it''s really hard for me to tell what I''m looking at since I have no standard to compare it to.

Third post down in this thread...cautions about how you mostly can''t tell about cut on princesses and fancies from proportion data...

Thanks regular guy. I always thought that picking out a diamond was going to be a lot easier....but, i'm finding it to be a bit more stressful than I had thought. you input as well as neatfreak's and lorelei's is much appreciate.

Nice link Ira. I agree, that''s why we need the ASET. To the OP: my comment was strictly about the pattern. Just don''t love it.
