First off, this site is really great. I''m a complete novice with all of this, but have already learned a lot by browsing the site/forums. Thank you all for participating.

I''m getting ready to propose to my long-term girlfriend. I''ve fallen in love with a Tacori setting: Tacori 2565RD9. The setting is available here:

I''m in Cambridge, MA, which doesn''t offer a lot of options as far as authorized Tacori dealers go. I''ve been looking online, and have been thinking about ordering from "since1919.com."

I think that I (and my gf) are most interested in finding a diamond that is: 1. fairly large, and 2. Looks good to the naked eye (with a premium on fire, scintillation, etc.). Thus, I''ve been focusing on finding a good cut, based on the limited amount of reading I''ve been able to do. I''ve been playing around with the Hollaway Cut advisor, and found this 1.4 ct diamond on since 1910''s site that looks OK to my novice eye. I was wondering what people thought about it, and if anyone might be able to offer some help:

My gf has a smallish finger (size 7ish), and I think she wants a somewhat dainty band because of that, and because she thinks it will make the stone look bigger. Does this diamond look like it has potential?

I set a price goal of less than 10k. With the white gold Tacori band, since1910 is quoting a price of $10,262. I think I''d want to call in, and perhaps ask more questions, but I''m not sure exactly what I should be asking about. Also, is it acceptable to try to negotiate over the phone on prices? For instance, would it be kosher if I were to call in and try to offer 9k, or 9.5k? I figure there is a 30 day return policy, so I could always return it if my gf doesn''t like it. I''d also like to order it out of state in order to save on the sales tax.

Again, thanks to everyone. I''ve really enjoyed the site, and it''s helped me a lot.

Can't tell if the pavilion on the diamond is 40.6 or 40.8..?

If 40.8 you want to see an IS to confirm no leakage, but it could be a winner

Ah, ditto, then!

Just so you know, if it is a virtual diamond then you can have almost any vendor call it in. Perhaps another vendor will give a better price.
