Hi guys, insuring my ring. Got a quote my homeowners (Travellers), $575. Ring is appraised @ $33,000. What do you think? Any insurance pros out there? Thanks!

Daniel, your ering is very pretty...but may I ask where you got the appraisal from? If it was from anyone other than an independent appraiser, I''d get an independent appraisal and then go from there (if you already haven''t). Do you know what type of policy Traveler''s is? Is it replacement or cash out? If you''re not sure, you can do a search on insurance and find a ton of information on that.

Appraisal is independant, and that is replacement value with travellers....

Daniel, I think what Surf was trying to ask is, in the event of a loss, will Travellers replace the ring from one of their preferred retailers, or will they give you "cash out" to replace the ring where You would like.
When you have put alot of effort into a ring like yourself, its something work checking I think.

(sorry SG if thats not what you meant).

I''ve had great experiences with jewelersmutual. They were excellent in handling my claim and because they specialize in jewelry they really know what they are doing. They don''t have a cash out policy, but they let you work with whoever you want to work with to replace it.

I had a great experience with Jewelers Mutual also. My ring had only been insured through them for 6 months when I chipped the stone. I don''t have a cash out policy, but I was able to pick out a new stone from the jeweler of my choice based on the appraised replacement value of my original stone. I was quite happy with the whole transaction.
