Hi All,
My BF is looking to buy a suit. This would be for interviews primarily, work, and the odd wedding. And we are in the UK, and he says he has £500 to spend on it. He has asked me to research the ''suit area'' as neither of us know anything about suits, and apparently I am ''good'' at consuming.
Does anyone know of a site which gives info on the best man''s suit to buy?
I think he is looking for a classic, but not fuddy duddy suit, if that makes sense. He does nt want it to be ''fashionable'', but it should nt make him look older than he is.
Can anyone recommend a suitable suit maker/seller in the UK?
Much obliged!

DH wears aquascutum suits. They are classic, work for any age, exquisitely cut suits. I really like the quality of the fabric and they just seem to fit better than anything else.
They are pricey and will eat up all of your budget, but worth every penny. They are pretty hard wearing, too.

He has more expensive suits that don''t look nearly so good. Worn with a really good quality shirt and tie, I don''t think you''ll find better without going bespoke. They do bespoke too, but to be honest, I didn''t see much difference to the ready made when DH got one.

Only warning is that the fabric they make train seats out of in the UK seems to eat the trousers. So if you BF travels by train a lot, tell him to get a coat or something to sit on. It probably does the same to any trousers, come to think of it.

Thanks so much MrsM. We had a look at the website, and that is pretty much exactly what we are after!

Tip: Be sure and look when he is trying them on. Buying a suit off the rack is OK, but especially if he''s slim, have them tailor that jacket just a bit. It''ll make all the difference and make the jacket look REALLY sharp. Sounds like that''s a good shop and they''ll probably suggest it anyway, but if they don''t.... Same with the shirt - get the slim cut shirt so it''s not all poufy around his middle. It will also add that little bit of bespoke look to it.

Men''s clothes are fun. My husband just sits back and lets me clothe him, the lazy rascal.

He is also an old pro now at finding great stuff on eBay.

Thanks Ksinger- good tip, especially as he is super slim, and he is rather tall. I really don t get how he maintains his weight- he eats like a horse (its actually unbelievable how much he eats), does NO exercise... I always joke that one night he will go to bed thin and wake up fat.

The secret is that he is a HE. Dang men - they can do that, we can''t. Mine is pretty much still like that - not quite so much as he used to be, he is 48 after all - but hey, cut out a few brews, and vioila! Avoirdupois OFF! Annoying.

Definitely have him try them on in person! Suits can vary so much from designer to designer--FI wears different chest sizes in different brands because some are cut roomier than others. It's also a lot easier to get a feel for what they actually look like in person. Most suit shops will tailor them for you when you buy them as well.

Since you're in the UK I don't know specific stores, but over here my very tall FI swears by Nordstrom because they actually carry suits in extra tall sizes.
