A few questions about GIA grading.

My wedding and engagement rings were lost, so I'm trying to choose a center stone. I had a GIA xxx .63 I VS2. I'm looking to upgrade a bit since I'm having to replace it, but I'm so bogged down with options.

I'd like to get close to 6mm x 6mm and some that I've seen in the .80 -.83 range fall into <2 HCA. My problem is, I am trying to 1. Find one that's not already sold and 2. Find one that is still xxx. I don't want to sacrifice cut, but is VG symmetry or VG polish even detectable?

I had picked a stone that was perfect, but it's sold and I'm struggling to settle for less. Argh. Sorry, end rant and thanks for any input!

I hate to hear that. Did you have insurance?

Well I'm shocked!!! The vendor just called to let me know that the other buyer changed their minds at the last minute. So it looks like I am getting the diamond I wanted, as long as I'm happy with the photos and video that she sends me when the diamond comes back to her!
