I need to decide between the Whiteflash ACA 3 ct bracelet and a bracelet that my jeweler could make me. It would be 4 ct same clarity and color as WF. They would not be ACA, but well cut. I have seen the diamonds from my jeweler and the look good(saw them loose). My question is : Is the ACA worth a carat less?

Okay to me this is a tough call. I have a flower cluster bracelet from an Italian designer that I bought from my local jeweler and the diamonds are what he calls "premium" but not quite ideal. It is exceptionally pretty. As you know earlier this year I purchased a shared prong bangle from Whiteflash with ACA diamonds and it is absolutely breathtaking. I guess you have to decide if breathtaking is worth sacrificing a little carat weight compared to just exceptionally pretty!

Personally if I had to make your choice I would go with the Whiteflash bracelet even if it is 3 carats instead of 4. However if you never see Whiteflash's bracelet you will probably be quite happy with the one from your jeweler.

Edited to add: I hope you are not getting sick of me answering your bracelet questions, but I was recently on the hunt myself.

I have a 4 ct. bracelet and I love that size. However, that was bought before PS. If I had to do it over, I''d get a 4 ct. hearts and arrows (ACA or other) bracelet even if I had to wait longer to save more money. My bracelet is beautiful, but I''d certainly prefer ideal cut diamonds.

jewelry. I have total 4ct /52 pieces / .077 each 4 shared prong and ( FG/SI1)
WF is total 3ct /53 pieces /.056 each ( the 4ct one price was much more than WF)
about my bracelet , I can''t see any size difference .in fact WF is look much more bigger and sparkle like crazy.
WF''s bracelet is my best Jewelry shopping for past couple year

Just thought I''d chime in here as well.

I don''t know how fixed you are on color and clarity. The one thing I had hoped for with WF is that they maybe could have provided lower color and clarity melee (maybe GHI SI quality stuff) to bring down the cost a little. If you like the 4ct option better, you may be able to do even better on price by inquiring. That is, of course, if you are willing to sacrfice. Just thought I''d throw it out there to think about.

The debate between 3ct & 4 ct is relative to me. For example...my wife was looking at the WF x-prong 3ct and the three prong at 3 ct. Both 3 ct, right. Yes, but a big but. Because the x prong uses 60 diamonds and the three prong only 47, the three prong diamonds will be larger. I think this is important to consider. I ended up thinking more about the number of stones and what size they will be, than the overall ct weight. Ct weight is important for cost...but it can be deceptive in a bracelet. That is MHO at least.

Good luck!

you might want to check with Wink at winkjones.com he does h&a melee bracelets and his prices are better than WF''s last I checked.

Did your jeweler tell you how big the diamonds would be in the 4 carat bracelet? I think the ones in the WF 3 carat one are around 6 pointers or so. If the diamonds aren''t much bigger in the 4 carat one, I would probably go with the WF bracelet. It truly is a gorgeous bracelet, and it is extremely sparkly. It''s one of my favorite pieces of jewelry.

Strm -

No offense to Wink at all, because I did talk to him about the bracelet I am going to buy, but he was a few hundred more for the exact same setting with Ideal H SI melee vs. WF ACA F/G VS melee. He was not able to beat their price.

This does not mean someone shouldn''t talk to Wink as he is a fantastic guy and obviously runs a great business. And maybe with a different setting he could do better. But in my instance with what I was buying was the truth of the matter.

Bottom line...with a purchase like this...get a few quotes...see what the vendors will offer...and choose the one that is right for you.

Thanks to everyone for the advice. The diamonds are 8 pts if I remember correctly. This is a very hard decision for me never having seen the ACA melee. I do really like the size of the 4 ct as opposed to the 3 ct, but who wouldn''t I guess. Would the ACA outshine my ering if it is not the same cut? Sundial, I really appreciate you since you recently went through this, so don''t ever hesitate to chime! Flower12 and Coda I know you have recently purchased WF bracelets too, so thanks to you as well.

I don''t know if this will help you with your decision, but here is a picture of my flower cluster bracelet with "premium" cut diamonds from a local jeweler compared to my Whiteflash ACA ideal cut bracelet. They are both pretty, but I feel that the Whiteflash bracelet outshines the other one. Of course this doesn''t help with the size issue. Have you compared 3 and 4 carat tennis bracelets at the jewelers to see how much of a difference there is? The size of the stones and the type of setting really makes a difference.

Sundial, wow!!! A pic is worth a thousand words indeed. Personally, in any diamond that I buy no matter how small, I would pick the best cut that I could get. Cut=performance. ACA 3 ct all the way. WF has known published standards for their ACAs. With somebody else, who knows? Unless they could prove that their melee would fall into the ideal cut category, I would go with smaller carat weight for a known performer. That''s just me.
