I''ll post an IS and a picture at 40X. What do you guys think about the scope and the leakage? How much is too much, and what is insignificant?

I would "think" they''d be just like (same res) all their other pics.....but this is definitely "off".

Ask them if the flo is affecting the diamonds appearance. And if not, why is the stone looking grainy/fuzzy?

Lol this "leakage" stuff kills me. A GIA triple Ex and Tolkowsky parameters.

Line up 5 or 10 (or 20, or 50) diamonds of comparable grade, comparable stats, comparable measurements, nothing funky different and noone can pick out the diamond that has "supposed" more leakage than another.

I saw a posting earlier of a G VS2 with VG''s. The opinion was "ohhhhhhh, you better get an ideal scope" thing going or the implication is possibly that the diamond is no good. RUBBISH.

The real opinion should be "with comparable weight and cut specs, how much more is a Triple Ex and it is within your budget or is there a comparably priced diamond with better than Triple VG for same or less money"...and THAT would be the best stone for them to get.

I know this goes a bit against the tide here but reality is reality.

Scirocco, it looks like the photography may be a bit fuzzy as El says, the diamond looks great - nothing to worry about.

Marty, I understand your point, and to the majority of uneducated, un-obsessed consumers (PSers aside) a GIA xxx would suffice. But, here we are a strange bunch, looking for the best of the best and for a lot of us, there are many stones that fall into GIA xxx range that we would discard in a heartbeat. If you are going to take the time and effort to purchase a very special, often once-off purchase, there is nothing wrong with getting the best you can possibly find, and for a lot of us, that means confirming stones with IS images. Reality is, some consumers want more than you average xxx, we want to go a step above.

I agree wholeheartedly with honey22.

It shouldn''t come as a surprise that an Idealscope is suggested for a Vg/Vg/Vg stone - when on PS, many Ex/Ex/Ex diamonds are rejected in favour of even better cut stones.

If I recall the thread in question, the vendor had described that particular diamond as being ''Ideal cut'' (as many vendors do). In reality the diamond was only certed as Vg/Vg/Vg. This proved confusing for a new PSer, who didn''t understand that the vendor''s ''Idea cut'' stone actually wasn''t.

Yes, it might still be a great diamond, but he was trying to compare the price of this diamond with an AGS0 - and that''s just not comparing apples with apples.

Can I just mention the strong blue fluorescence?

I'd want to see the diamond in different lighting conditions. I have a 1.15ct Leo diamond with strong blue fluorescence. I absolutely love it, but on sunny days it looks positively purple!

Some people absolutely love the appearance, but I think over the years I kinda fell out of love with the purple glow in strong sun light. However, indoors it's super white and sparkles like crazy. So make sure that you are happy with the appearance in all types of light settings.

I'll attach a photo of mine, so you can see what I mean. Hope this helps.

That''s one of the best fluorescence photos I''ve seen on PS.

I think it''s a cool phenomenon - but you do make a very good point, that what might seem fun initially, could lose its charm after a while.

(A bit like those masculine quirks which seem cute at the beginning of a relationship, but which turn extremely annoying at the end of one)!
