Recommendations on Emerald Cut stone

Hello! I am looking to upgrade my 1 carat cushion to an emerald cut 1.3-1.4 ct (with generous measurements) from the James Allen website. I have tried to read all I can on ratios, depth and table but still feel very unsure when viewing the stones in 360 as to what actually makes an excellent cut stone with great light performance. If anyone has some suggestions for me I would greatly appreciate it. I prefer a ratio of 1.3-1.39, GHI in color if it still appears white(ish) and even SI1 if inclusion is white and stone is eye clean. My budget range is 6,900-7,200 or thereabouts. Thanks so much

These are what I found based upon your price range & preferences. My favorite of the three, without additional optics and visual aids is the 1.32HVVS2.

If any of these strike your fancy, please reach out, immediately, and place one or all of them on hold; request ASET reports and any additional videos that they can provide with the diamond seated north to south, instead of east to west.

I'd love to be able to look at other vendors (especially Brian Gavin) but I've got to stick with JA as I purchased my original diamond with them and now looking to upgrade. My stone was $3,450 so I need to find something double or greater. I'll need to have my setting modified and there will be a fee for this so I'm trying not to exceed $72-7,300...maybe a smidgen more if the stone is amazing!

Place the 1.32HVVS on hold. Ask for ASET image & inquire about a video that allows you to see the diamond perform N-S. Viewing an EC lying on Pavilion 3 facet is very difficult.

I'd love to help but I'm not one to judge fancies very well, my own is NOT a "performer", it's a funky little stone I got for a good price. I do know that I like it best when they can take pics/videos of stones side by side so you can see how they perform against each other. Can JA do this?

I like it. It has brightness & just the right amount of contrast, but not leakage across the stone.

Thank you!! It’s so difficult to tell with these videos that position the EC on its side (e-w). I’m happy the ASET is very nice & clean. I think this EC will perform beautifully!

I think the final test would be a video of the EC N-S, or IRL evaluation. Static photos/ASET are only one phase in examining Step Cuts, but this ASET is very good. Without any other visual aids, based upon the video & this ASET, I’d say she’s a keeper.

Now, how will you set it? lol!! I know you’re modifying your existing ring...does that mean just the head, or are you changing other aspects to accommodate this beautiful EC?

The james Allen pic is my existing setting which I suppose will have the head only modified. But since the Tacori pic is my dream setting (in Rose gold) I hate to pay the fee to have it reworked. However, since Tacori’s settings are costly I’ll probably take my time and look for a preowned. Thanks again!

Both are beautiful! I love the Tacori, but I’m certain you can modify your head, reasonably enough, to try to achieve a similar look. Either way, it’s going to be gorgeous!!
