Hi everyone,
I am hoping that someone could give me more information regarding my gold chain and pendant.
It was given to me in 1989 bought around the same ish time I think, I cannot find a design like it so I'm not sure what type of link it is and what it's worth. The hallmarks are In the picture, has the star and 441 AR (Arrezo) with 750 for the 18ct. It's 60cm long. Any information about it would be greatly appreciated if, thank you. The chain style is a variation on a S curb link - the Italians love their fancy versions of chain styles.
With gold chains value is usually based on their gold content ie at 750 assay that’s 75% of the current gold value. There are gold value calculators online, so weigh it first and pop the details into the calculator. That $$$ is based on the current gold price, however a pawnbroker for eg might only offer you 50 - 70% of that value, a gold buyer might pay you 90% but on eBay for someone looking for a beautiful, heavy 18kt gold chain, they might pay up to 20% over melt value. Obviously there is also a manufacturing value added in but in the “pre loved” market the value over melt value depends on whether someone likes it a lot to pay a lot more.
