I've been lurking for about 2 weeks and have lost precious hours of sleep thinking about finally buying myself a diamond solitaire pendant. I'm looking for something small, both because of budget and for personal taste (I want to wear it everyday), don't mind going up to K in color as long as it's a nice cut. I'm not very picky (yet), but I do want it to be a real diamond. Budget is $600, so I'm looking for preloved beauties.

Found some items on eBay and TL and would like to get opinions.

One of the eBay items is a private seller that says it used to be her ering. I like the fact that she offers returns, so maybe I can take for an appraisal and if it doesn't check out, back it goes.

Next contender, also from eBay, comes for an experienced seller.

And finally, TL. Smaller item, no returns

Which one would you choose for your first piece (on a really tight budget)? Any precautions I should take?

Thanks so much for helping this newbie out

Are you just purchasing the setting or the entire piece, including the stone?

The entire piece. It will be my first diamond purchase.

The eBay listing #2 contains an old cut diamond.
The seller is experienced. Reach out & ask if the sale includes paperwork of any kind (certificate, appraisals, etc.) It was graded by EGL, but it’s an old cut stone, so I wouldn't let that deter me.
If the seller can provide paperwork to accompany that sale, and it’s within your preferred budget, that’s the one I’d choose.
I’m curious to know if the seller is even aware that they are selling an old cut diamond, and, you shouldn’t lead on that you know...lol!

Thanks so kuch for your input.
Hopefully listing #2 will keep within budget, as it ends in 4 days. It says it comes with EGL USA Diamond Certificate (US62626511D) & UGS appraisal

If you do purchase it, please share it! I’m curious to learn what the cert lists the Diamond Cut. From the poor quality photo, it appears to be a Transitional or OMC.
Please keep us posted!

Depending on how you personally define "real diamond," you might be interested in the half carat solitaire pendant from Lightbox. Lab grown diamonds are chemically identical to mined diamonds, they are just grown in a lab instead of mined.

I have one and it's gorgeous. You can look at the threads on the Lab Grown Diamonds forum for more discussion and pictures. I posted many pictures and videos and there are ASET/IS images as well.

Here's the link to the half carat solitaire pendant.

Not a great photo, but just had to share. The OEC pendant being auctioned got out of my price range, so I took a gamble on the private Ebay seller and am happy with the results.

It's a .5 H/I SI2 in 14k white gold. Came with a dainty 18" chain but I changed it to a 16" snake chain I already had (maybe too thick... Will see how I like it). Total cost $407 usd. Had the diamond tested and it was just as described. Might not be the greatest diamond ever, but it makes me happy everytime I look in the mirror.
