Hi

Just after some feedback / oppinions I cant decide which to go for a 9 or 11 stone half eternity ring. I definately want the ring to look like a full eternity from the top and side IYKWIM. Happy to go with 11 stones (around 15 points each) my only concern is could this be less secure than the 9 stone shared prong brilliant eternity from signed pieces. My ring will spin a bit in winter but be snug in summer and am concerned for the first and last stones being banged about a bit more.

I dont know mayby I am just being paranoid and it really wont make a difference, however with having to return an 11 stone ring from a high end B&M as the first diamond fell out after a few weeks

, I am a bit more cautious now.

Will it make any difference if it is 9 or 11 stone and am I better of having the ring a bit more snug so it doesnt move around and so the diamonds never come in touch with the bottom of my hand and can get banged?????

Any oppinions really appreciated

What size is your finger? I have 5 1/2 and my 7 stone with almost 11 pointers covers the top of my finger. So nine 15 pointers should go around the sides unless the ring size is very large.

I''m considering the 7, 9, and 11 stone rings as well. Although the pointers are I''m considering range from less than 2 points to 5 points. I''ve gone crazy, creating a worksheet to analyze the pricing between shared prong full eternity, 3/4 eternity, 5, 7, 9, and 11 stone bands, as well as a 9 stone bar set band. I''m looking at Whiteflash and Facets, as well as throwing in 2 Memoire bands to gauge things against. The Memoire are pretty, but the stones are SIs, and the stones from WF and Facets are VS quality. I''m considering the same type question as you. I''d really like to have the full eternity, but with my job, I find myself banging my hands a lot. I have a 6 pointer channel set band that takes a lot of hits, but the stones are much more protected it in.

I keep meaning to make a post about this same type of question as you, but I was partly waiting until Katiedid gets her full eternity ring from WF so I can hear from her about how it compares in quality to Facets.

I know I haven''t answered your question - I''m in the same boat! I have a size 4.5 size finger, and a very small band I''m trying to wear the multi stone band with, so my pointers need to stay small. A 15 pointer 11 stone band seems like it would go nearly all the way around your hand - am I confused?

It depends on your ring finger size. I have a 7 stone with 7 pointers that cover the top of my fingers in size 4.5 Depending on your finger size, an 11 stone band may be just right with the diamonds being protected by the sides of your fingers or in the grooves.

I am a size 6.5 and the previous 11 stone I had ended up being a true 3/4 eternity which meant that when I moved my fingers etc it always looked like a full eternity, which I loved

, whilst still protecting the bottom. The only problem is that in winter it slipps around a lot as my fingers shrink or swell in Summer. So wondering if 9 will do the job - I cant try it on as it is an online ring and no 9 or 11 stone in 15 points at the local jewellers. Argghhhhhhh

Probably from a saftey angle I should go for 9 stones ?????

Meanwile my DH just wishes I would make up my mind and get the ring, he is sooooooooo over my ring discussions

So the rings you are considering ordering are:

9 stone = 1.35 tcw
11 stone = 1.65 tcw

?

Can you do a 11 stone band with sizing beads to help with the wintertime spinning?

Yep Cinnamon013 you have got it right in terms of what I am chosing between. As my ring size is 6 in winter and 6.5 in summer I am trying to figure out which is best, or if it makes a difference.

Chrono - how do the sizing beads work, can I remove them in summer?

I have a 6.5 plain band as a reference and have been trying to figure out how far along the stones might go eg the diameter is 3.5 mm per stone x 9 =31.5 mm lenght and 3.5mm x11 = 38.5mm (not sure if that makes any sense or not), also not sure how much to account for the prongs in thickness arrghhhh. Anyway, - any easy way to work this out in terms of guestimating how far along a ring the diamonds would go to - or is this a good rough way to do it.

TBH this is the only place I can admit to thinking about all this in this great a detail -

, everywhere else they would think I have completely lost the plot

- oh well. At least when all this is resolved I will have heaps of spare free time on my hands - it has become a bit of an obsession finding THE ring.

Sizing beads are soldered to the inside of the ring and are not removeable unless unsoldered by your jeweller.

The little knobs makes the ring a bit more snug, but still gives room for your fingers to swell.

This is a difficult choice! You should go try on some of the Memoire bands at a local B&M and try and decide from those.
