It''s very discouraging that the average price here in central NJ in $100 per head.
I know a lot of you are spending more, but I can''t see 10k spent on food.

there are probably ways of going a little below (buffet, limited menu), but it is def the average. i think most guests in NY/NJ area know this and typically give a gift of $100 p/ head (hopefullly, but of course this doesn''t always happen) so you would recoup some costs that way.

When people go to weddings. One of the main things people talk about is the food. I''ve been to weddings were the food was gross and everyone was making fun. Trust me spend the money, because im sure your going to get it back.

I''ve looked at NJ venues... and you are right... 90-100 a head is where it starts. On the plus side... the packages are usually filled with a lot of nice perks that you have to pay to get else where. Usually the alcohol packages are nice... 5 hours premium included. Lots of passed hordeourves are usually included as well as a couple of displayed stuff plus champagne toast. Dinner, dessert, cake cutting... plus no space rental or equipment fees. That''s a lot for the $$. When I looked... that 100 a person didn''t just include food. Much bigger picture.

I honestly thought when we were looking at NJ, that is was quite reasonable for metro area prices considering all they threw at you.

75 per head i guess is a good deal. I wish it was closer to where we live in Ocean County.

His mother, I believe will pay for half, but boy is she going to be in for a rude awakening, she remembers paying $35 a head at the Lobster Shanty 14 years ago for his brothers wedding! ha I think she''s misinformed about that, I don''t think it could have been that cheap 14 years ago.

The more I think about it, I''m leaning toward doing the boat idea. It''s very close to my home town which is nice.
The reception would last 4 hours, do you think that''s too short?

I think this would be so cool, since our wedding is going to be under 100 people, the max for the boat is 150

I don''t have much advice to offer, since I am actually getting married in NC, but I just wanted to say "Hi!" to another NJ person! Where in Ocean County do you live? I live in Belmar, but I work down in Lacey Township.

Oh, and I love the idea of a boat wedding! Have you hecked any other places?
