So, as many of you know, I am still on the quest for the perfect setting for my relatively new 2 ct RB. I used to have an asscher in this setting, and I just plopped my RB in this old one until I decided on what I really want. I have been really loving Leon''s "v-shape pave," but I keep wondering if just a simple 6-prong TIffany-style solitaire is the way to go, so that I can wear it with my original wedding band, or a pave band, or a shared-prong or scattered diamond band. The other option is a 3-stone round, so it would provide sparkles all over the top of the finger, but still be a sturdy setting. I guess I''m afraid that if I get the Leon I''ll be afraid to wear it, but won''t mind knocking around a plain platinum setting. However, will I then miss the ooh-la-la sparkle factor of a fancy setting? Decisions, decision. Here are pics of the two types of settings I''m considering. Please let me know what you would get! Thanks! P.S. - hope you gus don''t mend me using pics of your lovely rings - I wish I could have one of each - they''re all so gorgeous! You know, some jeweler needs to invent "interchangeable settings" - so you could pop your diamond into a different one each day!

I chose 6-prong - this is definintelyyyy one of my favorite solitaire & band combos! it's what i'll be emulating when my time comes~~

i''m torn between the 6 prong and 3 stone. sorry if i''m not helping. but i have to say that the 6 prong looks sooo classy and elegant.

so maybe i''m a little more inclined to vote for the 6 prong after all.

good luck.

that would be a tough choice. I love the Leon pave setting but do see a huge plus in doing a solitaire so you can mix and match the bands which is always fun. Diamondseeker just re-set her stone in the leon solitaire and it just looks gorgeous with her legacy band and then gorgeous but completely different with her memoire band. are you a person that likes to mix it up, get's bored easily and would like the versatility of that type of set or can you be happy with the same *set* everyday like the gorgeous pave setting.

ETA: another thought is are you the type who wants to wear your rings 24/7, put them in the ultrasonic cleaner etc? or can you baby them and handle the delicate nature of the pave?

pave, pave, pave is my choice!!! Love it!

3 stone!!!

This is hard! But, I''d have to say the pave. It is absolutely TO DIE FOR!!!

Oh dear! Hard choice!

I'm torn between 6 prong or 3 stone. (I'm kind of in the same boat, as I think of my future reset)

I love the idea of all that sparkle you get with a 3 stone. Especially with a center stone of your size!

But, I just love 6 prong solitaires.

I love pave, but I like to save that for stacking bands and/or RHRs(that's just me, though)

Your delicate bands would work with both 3 stone and 6 prong.

I saw my jeweler the other day, and he showed me two .75s on either side of my 1.85, and it totally blew me away!

Oh, and with the three stone, I'd have Leon make it, or Mark Morrell

Six prong for ultimate mixability! (new word?)

I think plopping your beautiful 2ct into a 3 stone would take away rather than add. It may possibly make your center stone feel smaller. I am not a fan of ultra thin pave shanks either. I would want the setting that I would be comfortable wearing *ALL THE TIME!*

I didn''t vote yet because I wanted to clarify something first.... would you be wearing it with the band that is in your avatar?

i voted for the 6 prong. love the classic look and versatility of wearing it with whatever band(s) your heart desires!

I also voted for the solitaire, which I suppose is expected since that is what I chose! But I did choose the Leon solitaire over the 6 prong, even though I like both a lot. As MrsS already said, the ability to have more than one band was very appealing to me.

Pave or 3 stone would be my choice

I''m a sucker for 3 stones.

Oh my gosh, I''m so flattered, a picture of my rings was in the mix!!!!! I am so IN LOVE with your STONE, vespergirl! It will look gorgeous no matter what you do with it, just like it looks gorgeous now!!!!! A year ago, before I had what I have now, I would have voted 6 prong w/ eternity band without hesitation! But I sit here now thinking of 3 stones and pave at times.......

But honestly, I am just a person who always wants what I don''t have----I don''t think I''d change my decision if I had it to do over again though. I dreamed of a round solitaire and eternity band pretty much from about a month after I got my first set of rings back in ''02.... What''s funny about the versatility factor of my 6 prong solitaire is that I''m SO in love with the look of the eternity band that I don''t EVER switch it up! I *almost* bought the matching knife edge band for another option but went with my new stone instead.

I ooooh and aaaah over coatimunid''s gorgeous bands and all of her options a LOT though. I guess I''m just not a person who really has to have all the options??? If I was, I think I''d be thinking about all of the amazing bands I could have instead of just thinking about bigger stones all the time.

ohhh, I love the pave.....

Ditto. And then get two pave bands from Leon to wear with it and thus emulate the look of choice number 2.

Hi Sera!

I would only wear my original wedding band with either the 6-prong solitiare or three stone - if I do a pave ering, I will get a matching pave wband to wear with it, like diamondnut''s.

I LOVE Diamondnut''s set, Vesper. I think its just gorgeous!!!!!

my vote!

6 prong solitaire AND THEN, a have a wrap made (like woobug02 but with diamonds instead of sapphires) for the days you want the 3-stone look. That way, you have almost everything you want. I''d save the pave for a gorgeous RHR, possible with a coloured stone which would really make that thin delicate pave sing!

here is woobug02 gorgeous WF wrap.
