Hi All!

I need help!

I'm looking to buy the ring from respectable online store. My fiancé got me ER from a brand name store..which is VERY LOVELY, but we paid more for the brand name than the diamond itself!

They only have these 2 rings in the store for me to try on. What I want to order online is 5 stones, total ctw is 1.25 platinum.

in these pictures are my ER with 7 stones 1 ctw on platinum and 5 stones 2ctw platinum.

my ring finger is 6.50 ....can anyone help me with the pictures of 5 stones 1.25 ring? Will it cover whole front surface of my finger?

again...hope my pictures help with those who are interested in 5 stones 2ctw and 7 stones 1ctw!

I know I need manicure!

Are you planning to wear the band with your engagement ring? Because I think the smaller stones look much better with your e-ring (in fact, I would prefer 10 points or less per stone). A band with large diamonds is going to make your e-ring diamond look smaller. Plus the band with larger stones will sit higher and probably cut into your e-ring prongs unless you wear a spacer band in the middle.

yes, I agree, I think the 5 stones 2 ctw is wayyyy too big....and will over shadow my e ring

I had my heart set on 5 stones ring...and I was planning on ordering 5 stones 1.25 total.

but then I tried on the 7 stones...and it does not look too bad. Although it's kinda pushing on both sides of my fingers

How about a 5 stone ring with smaller diamonds? I agree larger diamonds do compete with your diamond.

My thoughts exactly. :wavey:

like how big would you suggest?

5 stones ring 1 carat...total....which is around 0.20 point? or smaller?

I agree with diamondseeker. Five 10 pointers would be better as to not overshadow your solitaire, which is absolutely gorgeous, by the way. You may be able to go as big as 15 pointers but see it first.

I honestly like 7 10-point stones at the largest with diamonds under 2 cts.

Here are two pictures with a 1.5 ct diamond e-ring.

First ring has 7 8-point diamonds for .56 ctw and the second has 9 3-pointers for .27 ctw (both from Tiffany).

This is a 1.6 ct diamond e-ring with a band of 7 10-pointers (.75 ctw) on a 5.5 size finger. So you'd need 7 10-pointers for sure on a size 6.5.

The smaller stones would be more comfortable at the sides so you would probably then be ok with the 7 stone ring!

True, and it is important to get a ring that has the stones set very low. Tiffany and Memoire are two of the lowest. Even if you don't buy from Tiffany, try theirs on.

I think 3 to 5 pointers add sparkle but don't take away from your diamond. 5 to 10 pointers will add quite a bit of bling and may make your diamond "appear" smaller but will still not overpower your diamond.

Here are 2 pictures of my ering with a 5 pointer and a 3 pointer ring. My ring size is 6.5

For me it is all about the ering and not overshadowing it.
For the longest time I wore a band of 3 pointers.
Then I decided to try 5 pointers but later decided they were too big.
Then I went the opposite direction and got a shared prong band of 1 pointers. That band really made my ering pop but didn't have too much bling factor.
I am currently wearing a shared prong band of 4 pointers with a 1 mm spacer that I think gives just enough bling that is comfortable.
Should mention that I also have a shared prong band with 12 pointers that I think are too big to wear with my ering so I wear it as a RHR.

Bottom line, I think a band of 4 - 5 pointers would blend well with your ering.

I should add that I also thought the 10 pointers were too large for my 1.5-1.6 ct diamonds. I bought a 2mm Tiffany Legacy band that has probably 1 pointers and that is what I wear even with my 2+ ct diamond! The 8 point Tiffany band is the absolute max I would personally go with a diamond under 2 cts. Save the 5 stone band (maybe 1.5 ctw) for an anniversary and wear it as a right hand ring!

I actually like the 7-stone you show here with your ring. If it were in your actual size I think it would look killer. My eye prefers a little more bling with my solitaire, but the 1.25 5-stone will overpower IMHO.

I would get it from an online vendor, as you mentioned, tho, not Costco where I see you're trying on rings.
