OK Pricescopers, I am back with another 5 stone ring question. For a stand alone band do you prefer the stones to be all the same size or do you like them graduated? Does it make a difference of the shape of the stones???

HELP give me some new ideas and direction

ANYONE??

I was thinking that I wanted a OEC bezel set 5 stone where all the stones were the sam size. I went to a B&m store today to look at anniversary bands of different carat weights to see which size I would like. I liked them when I got close to the 2 CTW size but I was just feeling the round shape looked so so on me. I have VERY same hands ( Seriously if you have a 10 year old that is close to what my hand size is) My ring size is about a 4.

Anyways, while I was looking I came across a graduated OVAL 5 stone. I have always gravitated to more elongated shapes and don't know why an Oval 5 stone never entered my mind. I LOVED how it looked I think it gave me enough bling the only thing I didn't love was the setting was white gold.

SO, I was just wondering which you prefer Graduated or all the same size??

thanks again

It's so much a matter of personal preference and the look you're trying to achieve. My personal perception - a graduated stone ring says "Here I am" more than a ring same-size stones, which is (unless the stones are quite large) tends to be more understated, although there are of course exception s to the rule. Your budget is of course another consideration. Again my personal opinion - I'd prefer same-size stones over graduated if graduated meant leaving quite a bit of the finger un-blinged. (and no, I don't have a number to put on that ;)) )

The idea of a 5-stone ring using ovals is very intriguing! Did you get any pictures?

I'm actually preferring graduated at the moment. They just seem a little more visually interesting.

Dont get me wrong...I have a "same size" smaller 5 stone that I just adore (with MRBs). Like VRBeauty said, I dont think a
similar 5 stone stands out as much. I think you see it as a line of stones more than the single stones that you get a better
visual with in a graduated ring.

So it depends on what you are trying to achieve. Also just depends on what you like to look at.

I wear a graduated 5-stone oval ring every day (RHR). I love it.

Yep I do have a picture. The ring is about two sizes too big but you can get a general idea of what it would look like. I would need to have it sized and maybe add some engraving on the band.

What do you think?

I like the graduated ovals on you, but my concern is if, once sized, they'll wrap around your finger. The problem with 5-tones is that there becomes an upper limit on how big you can go and still fit them all on there.

On the other hand, I don't like the look of 5 stones where the stones are so big that in order for it to fit your finger without wrapping around, the ring must be shaped like a capital D, flat side up. I think that loses a lot of elegance. Like this goofy looking thing: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Huge-3-75CT...ding-Ring-14K-White-Gold-G-H-SI-/331210077480
At some ctw point, I think you're better off getting a 3-stone ring for more North South coverage. (and less hanging over/adjacent finger coverage, ha!)
Just my opinion... :wavey:
