Below is an image of the diamond that I had a deposit on. Note that there are two white dots at the edge of the stone, which I think 5 prongs would cover them up nicely. Can anyone tell me if these white stuffs will make the stone easier to chip?
It''s hard to say without being an appraiser or knowing more about the inclusions, but if they reach the surface/edge it could be easier to chip. I haven''t personally seen 5 prong settings really except maybe for a pear diamond, but they might be out there. What about a 6 prong? Those are available in abundance.
If that is a Solasfera like I think it is, I don''t believe you will have any trouble not seeing those inclusions. Lots of pin-fire flash around the outside, so it''ll be hard to see. If nothing else, have your jeweler put the largest inclusion under a prong. Trust me when I say that they put out so much fire and sparkle that I really doubt you will ever see it unless you are purposely looking for it.
Lovegem, someone had posted this concept picture from Mark Morrell a few weeks ago: http://www.markmorrell.com/ It is a 5-prong setting but it''s not your "typical" solitaire.
