Count Vikula says Citi is operating profitably. Hearings on Thursday re suspension of MTM. Watch out above.

Strange article. I think it is to add more fear to the fire. Any how those are walking straight up today.

Citibank stock was at 97 cents on Friday. High last year was something like 50 or 60? Can''t recall. Good time to buy if you are a long-term holder.

From the inside of one of those banks...that is not exactly true and there are many, many assumptions on that page....

Ummm. Maybe not. You and Prince Al Waleed bin Talal maybe.

I like many financials and there is money to be made, but I think Citi is probably not the best choice, especially for most people reading this board.

Thinking 30-40 years down the road. Surely it would be more than 97 cents at some point. Hahhaa.

Yes Mara, that is true, but it may not be the same security it is today. Meaning, the common stock may undergo some transformations that could be negative for holders. However, the "Citibank" that exists in the future could be fine. It is a very complex problem just now.

BTW, it is no big surprise that these banks are making money. Has anyone priced a CD or savings account interest rate these days?? Like, near zero, right. But the banks are lending at around 5%. Wells Fargo net interest margin is through the roof these days.
