Hello!

I have the option of upgrading my 2.25ct round to a 3 stone with ~1ct round side stones-- Totalling ~4ctw.

OR I can upgrade the stone to a 2.7ct round solitaire.

What would you do?

This might seem obvious but which look do you prefer? Which would you enjoy wearing more?

That's a very hard question. I have a diamond about the same size and I strongly considered a three stone, but I would have used smaller side diamonds than that since I think large sides make the center look smaller. I liked cflutist's ring that has a 8.4mm center and 5.2 mm (each) sides.

Ultimately I decided to change to a halo! But I think if I had a stone that could be upgraded, I would be very tempted to go for the 2.7 which will be a significant size increase. I like both ideas, though.

I would choose a solitaire, but I may be biased, because I have one at about am the same carat.

I think you need to decide which will suit your lifestyle the best, they’re both lovely, but only you can choose what‘ll work best for you.

So your main stone would go to a 2.50 and 1 carat in sides? For sure!

Are you tired of the solitaire look?

I think she is saying approximately @nala which I take to mean 3.75 (center stays the same)...but ???

Ok so I would usually say 3 stone but man if both of those options look great in you! I can’t believe I’m saying this but I actually love the solitaire on you a little better. With your small finger size you’re still getting great finger coverage and it’s a classic choice that will never go out of style.

I upgraded from a 3 stone to a solitaire and now I want to add side stones to my solitaire because I miss my three stone.

I am really into 3 stones right now, but I would go for the 2.7.

Get the 2.7 and make it into a three stone!

I would go for the 3-stone but I personally like the look of ice across the whole finger, with a proportionally small wedding band like what you have pictured. Or, upgrade to the bigger one now and make it a 3-stone later! ;)2

3 stone!

3 stone! I have “man hands” so I would always go for more finger coverage.

That would be an incredibly difficult decision. They both look great, but they are both such different looks. I honestly don't know what I'd do. Sorry I'm not any help!

You really can't go wrong. Both options are gorgeous.

Honestly, I am a solitaire girl myself. However, that's me. You do what you want to do!!! I'd experiment with a costume jewelry 3-stone ring to see if you like that look.

Both gorgeous. No help, right?

:wavey:

I’m not much help either. A 2.60 to 2.80ct is in my wish list in a traditional Tiffany setting but I also love the idea of a 3 stone as @diamondseeker2006 mentioned with smaller side stones so the centre is standout. Can’t wait to see what you choose.

i know many will not agree with me but side stones are like window dressing to me. Id go for the solitaire.

I’m a solitaire person but that 3 stone looks great too and I’ve seen many gorgeous three stones here. Tough decision.

@384123 It depends what you’re trying to accomplish. If you want a bigger stone, then go for the 2.7. If you’re going after finger coverage then the 3 stone. Both are gorgeous. Another idea is to get the 2.7 for now and make it into a 3 stone at another milestone anniversary.

What an incredible position to be in! So happy for you, as both options are amazing. Not sure what your preferences are but, I've found DSS is easier to fight off with a 3 stone ring vs. a solitaire. Either way you can't go wrong. Can't wait to see final pictures.

Usually I’d always go for the solitaire...but in this case I love that 3 stone on your hand!

Vote for 3 stone! Hopefully, sometime in the near future I’ll be on that same path! I want the coverage and look!
