The smaller stone is beautiful, looks like a 2ct! For the money, I don''t think I can go wrong
Both Stones are GIA Certified and looked great in the natural light. Let me know you thoughts please Thanks.

Hi. I live in Manhattan and my (now) husband and I did some browsing on 47th street for my engagement ring. We found most places to be overpriced. We ended up getting our rings from a very reputable jeweler in Boston at a much lower price. We have tried to purchase other pieces in NY's diamond district, yet did not succeed. This does not answer your immediate question, but I thought that I would share. Thanks!

Hi. Thanks for the tip Anyone that you could recommend would be appreciated, it may be worth the trip.
Thanks again.

I am brand new with this forum. Can I recommend a jeweler or is that against the rules?

You can recommend, I don''t believe it''s a problem. Thanks.

Try Barmakians. They have 3 locations, but I suggest only contacting the Boston store (it is in one of Boston''s diamond buildings). Call 617-227-3724. I am absolutely in no way affiliated with them other than I enjoy my 2.0 princess cut diamond with baguettes, my 1.25 tw diamond wedding band, my 1.8 tw diamond eternity band, my husband''s wedding band, and necklaces for my bridesmaids. We are now looking into diamond stud earrings from them. The guy who used to help us left the store, so I cannot recommend somebody specific for you. I hope you find a beautiful diamond/ring! Good luck!

I agree with Whitefoot that more info would be helpful. Regarding your own opinion, I think you could do well to have a reference point to a diamond that was known to be very well cut.

Two vendors well regarded and referenced frequently on Pricescope in the NYC area are Engagement Rings Direct, where, for example, a similar option is available at a similar price, (and where, again, little is known about it), and also, especially, Good Old Gold in Long Island.

While you''re in NYC, would suggest you check them both out!

I have purchased from Michael Jay Fifth Avenue www.michaeljay.com he is fantastic and took excellent care of me. He has an online inventory plus showrooms you can visit.

If you are in New York, I''d go to Excel/SuperbCert. You need an appointment to see their stones, they do not have a store front. Here is their website:

http://www.exceldiamonds.com/

I''d also check out Good Old Gold on Long Island:

http://www.goodoldgold.com/

Both of these dealers sell only ideal cut stones. You can''t go wrong with either of them.

Those two stones represent quite a range in weight and clarity. You might consider refining your preferences down a bit before getting serious about handing over such major $$. I would pay a little more to go with a vendor whom I trust, and I wouldn''t hesitate to throw some internet vendors in the mix.

I just purchased a diamond from http://www.goodoldgold.com/, and I would highly recommend them. Jonathan the owner was great and really teaches you alot. It''s only about a hour drive from the city. He also posts on here a lot, i think his screen name is rhino. If you have the time you really should check out his store.

Okay the first stone I would not like becuase of the polish/sym being only good, for myself I would want EX/EX, same thing for the second stone it has a VG which I could maybe accept for one if the other was EX but I think I would pass on both.
If you are willing to drop down a color grade something like 2.225 J/SI2 14,116$ might work for you, or if you find a vendor you are comfertable working with then they may be able to sorce something for you. HTH.

Hi. I just want to thank everyone for their input and advice. My search continues! Thanks again.
