Why?

Wink
Wink, unless i am not seeing correct...

what i do see is either the last step towards the culet or both the last step and the culet triangular shaped facets, that are the ones that were further divided into three facets by adding two halfs in each step....
If thats the case..., it is imposible to add these halfs without moving the horizontal allignments of the third step from the culet.

I hope i am making sence... (but again, its based on what i see on the picture) i would be able to confirm it if i saw a profile of that Asscher...

They are standard 3c 3p asscher cutting patterns.
The problem with them is that if your angles are just slighty off they go bad in a hurry.

If the any facets angle is off .15 degrees it can throw the patterns off at this level in some of these.

Storm, you and I are going to have to keep in touch... in about 10 years I''m going to be looking for a upgrade asscher to that ring we just bought- and I think you are the guy with the design!

Just breathtaking...

These all have med girdles and < 10% crown height and 58%-61% tables.
No cheating to get the depth.

Very nice work, Storm, but absolutely useless from a cutter''s perspective.

Rough diamonds mostly have a certain shape and structure, and one hardly never sees stones with a square natural girdle, where the rest of the stone is very shallow (or flat, as we would say).

Therefore, to cut any of these examples would involve such a huge waste of fine rough material, that would make the final stone extremely expensive.

Are you ready to pay at least 50% more for this 1Ct-emerald than for a 1Ct-princess? If you are, will there be a reasonably big population of consumers ready to follow your example? If not, this is simply not cuttable because of reasons of economics.

You could compare this to a concept-car, which never makes it to final production.

Live long,

Thanks Paul I kinda wondered if that was the case.
Ill be happy if the AGS0 asschers hit the 60%-65% range.

I did these designs for me to learn more than anything.
If I had a bunch of money for the novelty factor Id consider having a couple cut.
But at 2x princess cost they aren''t economically viable.

It was a ton of fun working on it :}

Nice comparison

Of course a few of those concept cars do eventually roll off the production line...
