Hello everyone... I wanted to set a POH with a four prong setting where each prong will fall in between the cut corners to show more of the stone and accuntuate the square shape. I was warned by a jeweler that the corners, if they are not protected by individual prongs, will be prone to chipping.
I don''t really like the look of having 8 prongs, one covering each corner. the cut corners are too wide for a leon mege "double claw" look for wrapping each point. If I go with double claw, the prongs will still fall in between the cut corners.
The gridle thickness of the stone is 2.34-4.56%, approx 1.8 carats.
What do you think? Is it really risky to do the 4 prong setting?
