I would normally go out to have a couple of nice meals to celebrate my birthday and Chinese New Year.
However, thanks to Covid-19, all the restaurants are closed.
My birthday this year is very close to CNY which is on 12 Feb this year, and with Valentine's Day on 14 Feb, I shall have a cookathon at home instead.
Lobster with a creamy garlicky sauce; skate wing with brown butter with capers, Tomahawk steak, and a roast duck (plenty of leftover for crispy duck pancakes and fried rice at a later date).
If I can't go out to eat, I shall cook up a storm at home instead. Can't wait! :lickout:
DK :))

:lickout:..What time should I come over? what date?

You can't, as UK's border is effectively closed at the mo!

Would you be cooking anything special for CNY this year like you did in the past? :lickout:

Here you go, pics of the meals I cooked from 11 Feb onwards:

Lobster with a garlicky and creamy sauce:

Pan-fried skate wing with brown butter and capers, with wilted spinach and roast potatoes:

Tomahawk steak with wilted spinach, roast potatoes, shop-bought onion rings, and a homemade Stilton sauce. Plenty to share with the pets, and it was worth it just to see the dog's face when I gave him the bone afterwards:

And lastly, my nod to Chinese New Year: duck pancakes with a homemade duck sauce. I was going to save the second piece for another day, however I was hungry, so I ate it on its own as seconds:

Amazing!! I haven't had duck pancakes in so long! I throw vermicelli noodles and water crest in there too
Everything looks mouth watering. Yum!
Happy birthday, Lunar New Year and Valentines Day! And I hope Spring gets here very soon, like tomorrow.

Everything looks scrumptious! :lickout: Happy new year, DK!

I did not get a whole duck as there wasn't any in the supermarket when I went in, and bought 2 duck legs instead.

I shredded one for the pancakes, and ate the other as seconds as I was hungry.

The steak was big and plenty to share with the pets and some leftover for them for breakfast the next morning. It was worth it just to see the dog's face when I gave the bone to him afterwards.

DK :lol-2:
